Not really not to me. That's like dressing up as Santa clause, just cause you say your him doesn't mean you are. If two guys wanna play house, shit more power to them. But I wouldn't recognize that as marriage. I do think they should be allowed to receive life insurance and pensions should something happen to the other one. Say the dudes raise a family together. What's wrong with that? Nothing. But I get a kick out of hearing one refer to the other as "my husband" no dude that's your boyfriend. Not a big issue, live and let live.

Not really, it's just because of Christians and that group of religion that being gay is looked down on and "Taboo". I guess in Christianity being gay is a sin and seeing how Catholicism, Christianity, and the other branches of church all follow the same bible and is the greatest religion among the human populace , it's looked down upon everywhere.
Before those types of religion spread, being gay was no big deal. The only thing that people would look down upon is promiscuity.

If it has no ill effect on anyone, then why shouldn't they be able to get married. It is a tragedy that some consider themselves the all knowing, and actually believe that they should control -or at the very least have a say in- how other people live their lives.

Nope I could care less if they want to get married. Tell you what though racists and bigots should be castrated so there is no way to pass on their poison to innocent children....This is the only way we can get rid of the idiots in society who think they are better than everyone else because of the color of their skin or their sexual orientation. If we can't just kill them we need to breed them out.
Marriage should be a contract between two consenting people. If two men or two women want to enter a contract, fine. The separation of Church and State means the church doesn't dictate policy to the government, and the government doesn't dictate policy to the church The government only has to concern itself with how it applies to property ownership mostly. If two men form a family unit, health insurers should have to cover the significant other just as in a straight marriage.

A word from the conservative: marriage "licensing" is like MJ licensing, dog licensing or driver's licensing. It is simply a way for government to control certain aspects of life...and make money. In a "licensed" marriage (and I have one for non-traditional reasons) any by-product of that marriage is "property" of the state. Which means kids from a licensed marriage are property of the state. (If the state wants to take my kids they can suck my .357) Really nothing needs to be licensed, so no it's not That Big O Deal, except to the money makers in government who love the idea of any type of licensed marriage...the republicans especially love the idea (I should know, I am a local elected republican) though what is played out in the media may make you think otherwise. It's all highly psychological social engineering. If TV tells you republicans hate gays and Obama loves pot...you can go ahead and assume the reverse is true.
