he ran the BIGGEST seed bank in the world and openly bragged about it. now that he got busted he is suddenly this big medical movement guy? BS.

he knew what he was doing was illegal, as do i. if i get busted you won't see me crying about it for 10 years. in all this time he's been whining he could have already done his time and been out. kinda like Ed, and Tommy, and Dennis, and everyone else involved in "The Movement". :eyesmoke: :peace:

Its not illegal to sell seeds in Canada, he broke no laws in his own country. Its kind of like the Japanese trying to extradite FDD to Japan to face charges of manufacturing, even though its not a crime where the plants are being grown. Its BS is what it is.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time............
I disagree that a "crime" was committed by Marc Emery. First the definition of "crime" should be confined to instances when an actual person was harmed, stolen from or suffered property damage. Marc Emery did none of those things. Whether we like Marc Emery or not, (I don't know him personally) shouldn't matter, HE should NOT be in jail. He harmed nobody.

Being black in this "free country" used to earn people a lifetime of servitude. Should they not have "done the crime of being black" to avoid "doing the time"?

American citizens of Japanese ancestry were incarcerated during World War II in internment camps in THIS country. What "crime" did they commit?

Marc Emery has every reason to hate where he is, and yes whine about it if he wants to, he shouldn't be there! He was captured by the government of a country that will and has killed millions of people to maintain it's power. Marc Emery, like him or not, is a POLITICAL prisoner. He is obviously a more visible prisoner than the thousands of people we don't know who share his fate. Please don't be so quick to dismiss a real person and laugh at their misfortune. Marc Emery is a real person, with emotions and a life he deserves to have. Hating on him because he was successful is up to you, but misses the point. NOBODY should be in jail for excercising freedom. Marc Emery has my support, but so do ALL of the other nameless and faceless people that are also political prisoners.

We spend hours here on this forum debating, discussing and learning. Let's never forget there are many who can't be here, because they have been victimized and sit in cages for the "crime" of self ownership. I honor them. No victim. No crime. Peace.

Well then, I stand corrected. How about:

Don't break the law if you can't do the time.

We could go on and on, as others have. As I have said, no one deserves to go to prison for selling seeds or pot. But, he's a U.S. hater and they were out to get him. My beef is with his stealing of money's paid to his business for seeds. He, in turn, decided to keep the money and rip off U.S. customers- ONLY BECAUSE THEY WERE FROM THE U.S. All they did was order some seeds, but he felt it was within his right to steal the money ONLY becasue they live in the U.S. It's like he was holding them responsible for the laws, etc. He got what he deserved, not because of his type of business, but because of the way he RAN his business. I don't feel sorry for him one bit and don't forget Marc, "Don't drop the soap"!!!

How do you figure he was stealing money from his business? It was his business.

I meant his business was stealing cash receipts from U.S. customers. People would pay for seeds and then he would either not send seeds, send bogus crap that wouldn't sprout or send trash seeds that grew into celery stalks. He owned it and he's responsible for it. What I speak of is widely known and accepted by most now a days. He hates the U.S., and he hates Americans and did whatever he could to screw them over. You see, his problem is he equates the U.S. policies and laws with those of average, every day Americans and nothing could be further from the truth. He was just too blind to see it........

Here's my last post on the subject. Open your eyes, and meet the REAL Marc Emery:

Interesting. Looks like Marc Emery may have some skeletons in the closet. However, he STILL doesn't deserve to be incarcerated for the "crime" of selling seeds. Nor does the United States have any moral authority to extradite him, they simply have the most guns. Moral of the story, for me anyway, even if somebody isn't a person you'd personally associate with, it doesn't mean they should be jailed for a victimless crime.

I'll go back and read the link you posted, (skimmed it already) , but I can understand your dislike of him. Thanks for the heads up.

Apparently hes a terrible guy because he likes to have sex with more than one woman. The fact that he supported them seems to be at issue too. Supposedly he sold seeds that were sub par for what a US resident thought they would get for their well spent dollar, well guess what? Buyer Beware.

maybe they are making an example out of him because he kept jumping up and down yelling "look at me".

"an example"? seems to be working. :)
fdd2blk,

I have a different view than you on Emery. Sure he stood out like "dog's balls",but I'm not sure that was the whole reason they took him down. I think the DEA's "Bean Counters",(not talking seeds here), came up with a number of all his $$$ donations to different groups, court cases, etc.,etc... Kinda like cutting off the head of the serpent!? In some respects it has worked. Look at all the money Emery has given to NORML, and other pro-cannabis groups. Yet, to my knowledge none of them have stepped up to help him. Wassup with that? Anyway, my take on Marc Emery is that they(US Gov.) took down Emery to cut off a funding source to the cannabis movement.
As for the Emery's whinning, won't do them any good. I've been through the federal system. While I was there Michael Milken was in the system, Charles Keating too. Both of these men waaay more wealthier than Mr. Emery, and neither whinned about their prison time.
Mrs. Emery best not kick up to much "stink" about her hussband's treatment while in the BOP. Otherwise they will find him on 'Conair' for a couple of months, or longer, and it's nothing like the Nico Cage's movie with the same title. Conair is no joke, so Canuuck whinners beware!

I am again just left to wonder why he would have just quit and made a deal and cowardly left the country
His court case would have run until what 2014 based on our wonderful justice system

But alas as I know it was about the never talked about added charge three years after the fact...""Possession of Proceeds of Crime""

They would have taken the real prise...his museum to himself..his store

Lots more to the emery story

http://pottalk.ning.com/forum/topics/the-truth-about-marc-emerynot

Sadly these days its about fairy tales and hopefulness while I know it was really about living the high life and pretending

Pretending to be robin hood while spending $400,000 a year with 5 wives??

Oh but look he gave 15% of what they needed in Colorado once hahhaha

It just makes me howl with laughter it all does...the misinformation

Ignorance is bliss I guess

cheers all

No one extradited him
after we raised $50 thousand dollars $10 dollars at a time from street people what did the prime pimple of pot do?

He instead spent $80 thousand dollars just to stop a Head Shop owner (Friendly Stranger) from using the words cannabis culture........

I would keep him in jail for 5 years

Well that just goes to show, if your not morally pure then you deserve to be extradited by a foreign country for doing completely legal things in YOUR OWN country.

I saw an interview with him shortly after he'd made the deal. He said he copped a plea in order to save some of his colleagues from going to jail. Not sure if it's true or not, but that's what he said in the interview that I saw. I'll look for it and post it up if I find it.:bigjoint:
