I know we have been discussing this earlier in the thread, but would bending it the second week into flower affect the yield and/or potency from the stress??
Nah. mj is pretty resilient...they don't mind being bent at all, and have no problem flowering while tied down. As long as you're not overzealous with the degree of bending at any one time, she'll likely take it very well (especially if you water her well beforehand).

Since she's short and stout right now, I would recommend tying a length of string (not too tight) around the stem somewhere towards the top of the plant (but not right on top of a bud site, obviously) and then gently pulling the string down and off to the side a little. If you do that (by hand) before attaching any weights to it (or, before tying the other end to something), you'll get a feel for how flexible she is. Once you have her bent the way you want her initially, then you can set it (with a weight, or whatever) and give her a day or two to adjust...then pull it down a little more every few days as necessary just to keep her out of the lights. It looks to me like you still have enough room to bend her very gradually, without stressing her at all.

Since you've never grown this strain before, there's really no telling how far she'll stretch before she stops, but she will stop at some point (probly soon, imo), and then you can just leave her in that position for the rest of the grow. After a few weeks bent in a certain position, I find that my plants usually tend to stay that way even after I remove any strings, wires and weights.

I'm bent her a little bit ago after this comment. I'll keep you guys posted on how she likes it. I only bent her at like a 40 degree angle to be safe. Thanks for the advice again man

I decided to bend her only for 2 reasons, as you can see from the pics she is getting brown tips and possible hurting the top cola from the lights getting too close. Right now when I went in there they seemed to be getting worse so I tied her down. Second reason is because I cant build or put together something fast enough before the lights turn off. Since she has been growing about 1/4in every time the lights turn off, I have to bend her. I hope it doesn't effect her too much. Now thinking about it, I would rather her slightly stress from a light bending then growing into a got light and burning my top cola. I'll keep everyone posted here in a couple days.

yep. that sounds like a better trade off to me too. as long as you bend little by little, it won't stress her too much.

Yeah.....so I figured I am gonna be pretty busy tomorrow and am just too impatient in general! I just want to show you guys her progress now being bent. She didn't seem to mind it and now I am getting a grip more little nugs. I am so excited that she is getting bigger and bigger daily. Anyways, here are my pics. Let me know what you guys think. I'll be on tomorrow but will be starting my official update either tomorrow (if i'm not too ripped) or Thursday. Happy smoking and let me know what you guys think.

Well, I can't really tell from the pic where the string is attached to (on either end)...but as long as she's out of the lights and seems happy with the tie-down, I'd say you've got it right. She'll stop stretching at some point soon...then you can leave her in that position and her buds should start fattening up as the weeks go by.

Happy 420 X! If I wasn't too ripped right now I would be able to post the other pics. Its going to be sleepy time here very soon ha ha. Anyways tomorrow morning I will remember to put up the pics to show how she is tied down. I can't wait for them to start fattening up :D I have to take advantage of the sales attitude are having right now. Any preference on seed brands?? I ordered some TGA subcool last week and was thinking of trying greenhouse seeds. (they offer 3 free fem seeds for spending $27)

Hey, BG, happy 420 to you, too, lol. Too early here for me to blaze yet, but I'll be packin a bowl soon enough. :blsmoke:

As far as seeds go, TGA seems to have some solid genetics...though I haven't actually grown any of his strains yet, so I can only go by what I've read here and elsewhere. I picked up a pack each of Jillybean and JTR last month during the Attitude bday promo...will probly start the Jillybean as a first shot at TGA strains, since it sounds like something I'd really like. I have grown the GHS white widow (at least I think it was their ww, but not 100% sure) several years ago, and I was quite happy with the results...and I was growing one of their White Rhino up until this week, and have no complaints about that one either - it seemed to be growing just fine with no probs, but I never got to test the final product. I have a pack of their Super Lemon Haze waiting in the wings.

There are so many choices nowadays, it really depends on what kinda high you're looking for. Ideally, you'd want to be able to test the actual product from a particular strain (from a particular breeder) before making the investment (in time and money) to grow it out, but the next best thing I suppose would be to read as much as you can here about the strains you're considering (esp. grow/smoke reports) and then pick the ones that match what you think you're looking for (I like the "Advanced Search" option for that purpose). Another place you might wanna check out would be Sannie's shop (http://www.sanniesshop.com/sannies-seeds/)...I haven't read a bad review yet of any of his strains, the prices are very reasonable, and their shipping has been as reliable as attitude's for me. Nirvana (http://www.nirvanashop.com/) is also a good place, reliable shipping and very reasonable prices (even better today, since you can get a 20% discount - today only - by entering the 420 coupon code)...I got my Maui Waui from them and have no complaints about the final product. You can get Nirvana seeds from attitude as well, but not sannie's gear.

Honestly, I've grown out ten or eleven diff strains over the years, and can't say that I disliked any of 'em...some may have been better than others, but they all did the trick for me, and I don't regret having made the effort to grow each one. However, I don't consider myself a "connoiseur" at all, my experience is limited to those ten or eleven strains, and I'm not a heavy smoker (frequent, yes, since I toke almost daily...but one bong rip at a time is usually sufficient to get me where I want to be), so I don't need super-potent bud to make me happy. Usually I prefer sativa-dominant hybrids (since I like to partake throughout the day, without falling asleep or getting glued to the couch), although I'll continue to experiment with more indica-heavy strains (for night-time use) in the near future. In the end, it really depends on your personal tastes, imo, and since there are so many options available, sites like riu are extremely helpful in finding hands-on info about specific strains (by specific breeders) provided by folks who have actual experience in growing those strains. Of course, the medicinal effects will likely vary among different users, but I trust first-hand accounts more than the breeders' descriptions of what the high is supposedly like.

I've been reading alot on Subcool's genetics. That is why last week I ordered, just like you, JTR, jilly bean and the vortex. Right now I just got done ordering from green house. Got white rhino, super silver haze and kings kush. I am getting Kushage, Kalashkinova, Super bud and exodus cheese for free. I have read quite a bit of Subcool but now its time to read some about green house. Hopefully I'll find some good feedback on those strains. Only $60 and I get 7 feminized seeds! ha ha

Not sure if it is a girl? Are those pistils on the top of the plant? Pics look good. I also use foxfarm but i am growing hydroponically.
Definately a girl. Sorry for the shitty pics I just haven't been able to tune into my digital camera. Foxfarm has seemed to work pretty well for me. No complaints there. Are you currently growing CR?

Sounds like a good selection of genetics. Have you decided which one(s) you'll try growing first?

Once I get settled in my new place I was planning on starting Kalashkinova, Jilly Bean and my Mystery seed (orange krush). I still have that 150hps and will be using it to its full potential at my new house. Plus the CFLs since they have been working wonders so far. Once I get a couple of crops under my belt I will start growing the "better" strains. (JTR, WR, SSH)

edit: Just got an email from attitude. Apparently my order didn't go through. Just re ordered and instead of getting the Kushage seed, they are giving me a Super Sour OG.

Hey poptcorn! Thanks for stopping by man. I will be starting Jilly bean here in about 2 months. Hopefully we can follow each others once we get them sprouted. Goodluck to you and Happy 420!

Jillybean would have been my first choice as well.

I hope that "mystery seed" germs up okay for ya. It would be alike an additional "freebie"... delivered in the best kind of packaging. :weed:
