Yeah, I almost went with HTG, and it was gonna be like 60 bux shipping, from amazon, the lights more, but the shipping it only 18.95 or so, so it's round out to about 175. Does anyone thing that a little inline booster will work to push heat out of my light to my exhaust? I was told they're not very effective, but i'm not trying to push through a full on carbon filter, just a little carbon pillow...
::sighs::
I need a REAL inline fan >_<

Fuck it. I'm ordering.
I'ma go to the store and get one of those visa gift cards and pay for it with that I think, and does anyone know if it's safe to have deliveries come to your house (if your growing in it?). I've ALWAYS read never to have equipment shipped to where your growing?
I got a cheap 4 inch inline booster fan for my light. It help with heat, brought it down 4 degrees. Once I got the tempered glass and put that on the light, it helped tons. Now temps stay right around 78-80. Yesterday was hot and our central air is broke and even then the closet stayed at 80. I think it'll do. Once summer hits we will have AC and my closet is in the basement, which is usually 10 cooler than the rest of the house.

Ok, so here's the deal..

I'm purchasing a cooltube HPS, and need to cool it. I will also eventually need to make a DIY carbon filter. My temps are a bit of an issue, and my grow room is 10' (wide) x11' (long) x8' (high).

Now, my question is THIS...
6" All Metal Inline Booster Fan 6 Inches Duct Fan 240 CFM

And the link to it

I can get 2 of these for about $45, and they'll fit my ducting strait away...

-OR-

Stanley High-Velocity BlowerFan (which i would mod)

.
Here's the fan itself

And the link to it.

Then i'd have to do this;

One Stack boot from lowes $7

Firstly I measured sorta carefully the difference between the outlet of the blower and the stack boot and cut two pieces of R-3 insulation to close the gaps and siliconed them into place.

Slide the Boot over the exhaust of the blower securing it in place with four self tapping machine screws from the bucket O junk, and sealing it with silicone.

For the intake I used and orchid pot with the bottom cut out, securing it with superglue and sealing with silicone.

Drill two Holes in the base on opposing sides of the center seam to mount it to the ceiling
and TADA

Supposedly the high setting moves 310 CFM, and has already dropped my room temperature by Five degrees.

More work and a LITTLE more money, but it seems like it's a lot more powerful.

I'm just curious what YOU guy's think.
And before ANYONE suggests that I simply get an inline fan, if that was an option, I wouldn't be debating between these 2 items. Both have advantages. The first would be quiet, and won't need any modification. But the second is powerful, and the same price. Not to mention the mods aren't very expensive.
I'm just worried the inline booster won't have enough power to pull air through my carbon filter once it's built and installed...

Anyway, no fighting, no rude comments, and no insults regarding my going with DIY rather then simply BUYING fans and carbon filters. I'm growing for a single patient (not me
) and my money goes to help keep my family housed and the water/gas/power, ect on.

Thanks for all your help (in advance) and I look forward to your opinions. Alternatively, if anyone has any other suggestions, cheaper fans, better mod idea's, by all means, please let me know. Keep in mind however that I have between 40 -50 bucks MAX to drop on a fan.

Thanks again guys. I'm ordering within the next 24 hrs at the longest, so the sooner I get this feedback the better!

If noise isn't an issue, I'd go with the Stanly blower fan. If it's going to move more air that's going to be more efficient in keeping your room cool. My cheap inline booster fan only moves 80 CFM on it's own. I probably should have gone with something better, but limited funds at the time. You don't want to find out in August that your fans not quite powerful enough. I'm hoping I don't find that out in August myself!

Hey, dajosh, your mailbox is all full!

IF your giving it nutes...stop doing that. Pure water only until the yellowing chills out. The soil is just to nutrient rich. And it's burning the plant. If you want to stop it RIGHT NOW, then leech (flush) the soil and re-add nutes to it later once your plants recovered and needs it. But one of the best things about FFOF is that you don't need any nutes for several weeks. Shit, I know people who don't use ANY nutes in FFOF until they get to flower (usually a month or so).

Thanks....and, August?

Heres the thing, this CFM thing seems like bullshit, since the lil booster fans are supposed to be 250 CFM each, and the blower on high is only 310 CFM (or at least thats what the guy who modded it says...) and somehow the blower is crazy powerful? I dunno. And i've heard people they get GREAT results from 5 cfm, but...I assume those people just have no idea what they're talking about...

Well, my booster fan was supposed to be 150 CFM, but that's if it's hooked up to an AC unit or something. On it's own, it's only 80 CFM. And I say August because around here that's the hottest month of the year, if temps are gonna be a problem for me, the problem will be worse in August. Yesterday it was 83 here and my temps reached 81. Not horrible, but up until then the fan and glass insert were keeping the temp right at 78, 72 during lights off was the low.

no i just added water, and thats it,so how much amount of water to flush it?

I'm not a soil grower, but I believe you flush with 3 times the water as the size of your pot. I think! I grow hydro, but I've read a lot and at first I thought it applied to hydro as well. I still flush with 3 times my res capacity.
