this is a magnesium deficiency. could be because of ph problems. try to keep it steady. add some epsom salt or calmag.

i don't think so, algae doesn't really cause problems, it's just a harmless symptom of other problems, aka too wet. rockwool is problematic that way.

but i don't think your problem is moisture related.

Is the green rock wool or algae? Or is it algae on the rock wool? If it algae its cuz too much water or not enough air movement?

ph should be 5.8 to 6.2 at lower ph's, your plants dont absorb micronutrients as well and may absorb macronutrients at too high of a rate. the opposite if your ph is too high. do you have any airstones in your res? brown roots sound like root rot. what kind of nutes are you using? what kind of water. personally tap works fine for me and i dont even let chlorine evaporate out. tap water should also have plenty of calcium and magnesium. thats the downside of reverse osmosis water is you need a calmag supplement. RO water is better than tap though. i just use tap because of the convenience.

i still think you need the epsom salt! what about your pH now? also, did you actually mean your ec is 0.04? cuz that's very low. but you probably confused it with 0.4, which is the actual value, right?

good I would keep it up higher just until you get this figured out.. This should solve your problem cause I'm pretty sure your light was too close

yah I really did mean 0.4 um ph spiked up agien in the morning it was at 5.7 and 2 hours later it was 6.2 I put it back too 5.8, just checked its at 6.1... is this normal sometimes or something the salt will clear up?

the nutes i use buffer the solution and keep it low at 6.0 max with 1.0 ec. a good chance that with higher EC you will have an easier time with pH. it's a pain i know, you really gotta watch over it, and try to look for ways to keep it down. i really don't know others but would love to hear more. Also, if you use tap water, the scale in it is also buffering it up. so filtering it or using bottled RO water may help too.
