Indoor CFL grow journal of someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Agreed. That could have possibly been the worst thing you could have used. You would eventually have to break that jar to transplant that thing.

Aye, it was a stupid idea, but it was the first thing i found and I didn't realize what i was doing. At the very least it has taught me to think about what I'm doing before I do it. Hey, you live you learn. I said it from the begining, this grow is probally gonna be more educational than anything else.

Your not going to get any education from a grow in that thing bro... it won't last more then a couple weeks, get it out asap.

Planning on it, as soon as my soil finishes thawing (see post #31) I'm going to transplant her. I'm hoping it wont be much more than another 30-60 minutes.

Damn, how are you gonna do it? You might have to break the bottom and slide it out that way? Or do you think you will be able to get it out through the top?

I just finished the transplant. What I wound up doing was digging around the rim. Just kept digging further and further down untill there was an island in the center of the jar. I picked up the clump in the center, trying as best as i could to keep it intact, and then planted her.

Shes in her new mansion now, I gave her some water, only about 8oz though cause I want her root to stretch out. (should I have given her more water?)

As far as her water is concerned I use just regular tap water that I let sit out for atleast a day so the chlorine evaporates out. I don't add any nutes yet...When should I start?

It's been 12ish hours since the transplant. she seems to have taken it well, no signs of wilting or anything like that. I actually had a dream last night that her leaves were drooping and there was discoloration, but thankfully it was just a dream.

Oh i have dreams all the time about my plants:-) I had this dream one time i was standing in my back yard looking at all my outdoor plants and the fan leafs were bigger than my arms:-)

Anyway the transplant looks good. Fine Job. What CFL's are you using to Veg? Make sure they are 6500K Daylights.

Right now she's under the 60watt equivilant CFL, I checked but it's not listed. The ones I got yesterday that refuse to work are 3000K. What wattage are the 6500 ones?

As of late I've been pondering my lighting setup. I've been looking at pics of other grows that are into week two and I gotta say, Esmerelda looks a bit pathetic. My theory is that my light setup is insufficient. So I'm going to raise the question here of, What (CFL) lighting should I be using in my grow?

I've also created a new thread for this question here :https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/53889-what-do-you-need-look.html

Please answer my question at either (or both) locations)

I went shopping again! It's kind of sad how excited this all makes me. I'll post pix when everything is set up. Her light cycle goes from 10pm - 4pm. I'll post pix a little after 10

I'm still waiting for it to be time to turn the lights back on in there but in the mean time...questions? comments? criticisms? Anyone?

Ok, so after today's trip to Home Depot I now have worked out a new set up. While I was there I got some clamp lights, two y adapters, and 2 23 watt 5500K CFLs. If you look in the picture below the 2 lights in front are the 2 5500s the other two are 23 watt 3000Ks, and on both sides of the wall there is aluminum foil. On my next trip to walmart I plan on picking up a small fan.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Should I add more light? I have more bulbs and lamp space.

So, I have some mixed news. On her first light cycle with the new 5500K lights she grew about a quarter of an inch. The bad news though; apparently during the night one of my cats food dishes was empty, and he was hungry....so he ate her leaves. Below is a pic. Does she have any chance? I guess it's a good thing I started those new seeds a few nights ago, how long should it take for them to crack?

heheh all i can say is lol.. i have 2 cats and a pitbull and that does not surprise me one bit.. my dog loves to eat the weed stems and my cats WILL play with them if i let them in there, but for your sake , from what i've read on here.. having animals around your plants isnt good becuz they can carry in outside insects so i'd try to keep your animals away. ass for the plant.. weed is very resilient but it may be stunted (slow growth and or deformity's) i'm a real nube when it comes to seedlings though

Check out my grow.. i dunno how to post it here

The door knob to the closet she's in kind of sucks, both the cats can open the door. I was planning on going to home depot in a few days to get a new one. I knew something like this would happen, I just didn't think it would be on day 2 of her being moved to ground level, and i didn't think he'd eat the whole thing.

not much to report tonight. Esmerelda is still hanging in there, shes sticking straight up, showing no signs of anything being wrong (aside ofcourse from her being deformed).

A bit of good news though. I checked my seeds about 30 or so min ago and one of them has cracked. She's off now in a peat moss cup, few more days and I should have another sprout. I'm hoping to get 2 more of these seeds to crack then give them a few weeks in peat moss cups and then keep which ever one looks the strongest, I might keep 2 if things don't start improving her Esmerelda. Now its time for a few bong hits then off to bed. Night Kids.
