fair enough bro ill admit i lost my head and started yelling about suvs and lambo's and what ever it dosent really matter what they spent it on they fucked up and the fact you think it was working great for ten years is the reason you are all in that position cleary wasnt going to well and to begin with my statement wasnt even that much of a stereo type i just said theres alot of famous/ rich people in cali probly more so than the rest of america to the best of my knowledge but anyway lets just stay on topic unless they support leds too lol

Read somewhere that has been done already...well hemp that is. More interesting is his Island in the caribbean which is designated a sovereign state, think of the potential on your own Island..

the plan is eventually to have two 600w's for the 10x10 after th first run if im happy with the results.
I honestly don't think 2 Blackstar 600W LED lights are going to properly cover a 10x10 grow area for you.
They could maybe cover 6x4 adequately, but not a 10x10.
2 600w Blackstars are only putting out around 700W in total (combined).
Each 600W Blackstar only pulls around 350W in reality, which gives you a 3x3 coverage area (approximately).
I'm not trying to poo-poo your plan, but I'd hate to see you waste your time, money, and effort on an impossible situation.

thanks for the thoughts bro ya ive been dancing around a bit first i plan on buying 1 see how it goes in my 4x4 tent then get another see how it goes and then if i feel its not enough maybe pick up a 240 as well and have some weird light setup of some kind. even if in my 10 x 10 two 600s are not enough i will just take a plant or two out and squeeze them together a bit in the middle or what not but ya im definatly gonna do some test runs before i purchase a bunch at once.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

You would need 8-10 of the 600 watt panels to cover 100 square feet. Each one could provide a maximum of 3 x 4 coverage, or 12 square feet.

I would look at the 500s before the 600s, because the 500 uses 3 watt diodes, whereas the 600 uses 2 watt. Better penetration.

Or even consider a bunch of the 240s. You will be able to spread your light out much more efficiently.

I eventually will be picking up a 5 x 10 tent, and will be using either 6x 500s, or 12x 240s. I haven't decided yet....

well ill be honest with ya brotha man when that happens i will be sleeping on the couch for 2-3 months haha luckly i got a comfy couch.my tent right now is set up directly beside my bed with no room to spare when i get the 10x10 i will have to disassemble my bed and thus camp on the couch but i dint mind because hopefully the rewards will be great.and the plan is eventually to have two 600w's for the 10x10 after th first run if im happy with the results. hopefully i just move before i have to deal with that shit but whatever thats life haha.

Depending on how much $$$ you have you maybe should just go all 240s, if you can afford it you should go for all 3w diode 500w panels since blackstars use fewer watts than their name implies. Each one would be good for a 3x3* area, even 6 units would probably be enough for a 10x10 room since you probably won't actually use that whole space right? You will have walking room, fans, and stuff around.

Me personally I'd either go two 290w* or 4 180w* GLH units on light movers because I don't have the money to buy as many lights as I'd like.

*I think people should go for about 30-40w of good 3w diode LED per square foot
*GLH units use as many watts as their name implies unlike most LED companies

I do want to try a few other LEDs before investing in such an expensive project. I've only tried the Blackstars and HTG so far. (don't get me started on the HTGs...:roll: ) I want to try a GLH panel, and Blackdog, Isis, and the Pro-Gro.

The 5 x 10 tent I'm looking at has large access panel openings on all 4 sides, so I can get to all parts of the tent from the outside of it, so a majority the tent will be all plants and lights, the fans and ducting will be above and in between the LED panels. And the res outside the tent.

When I originally bought my two Blackstar 240s, I thought I was getting 240 watt panels, and I plugged them up to a meter, and it read less than 140 watts. My 90 watt HTG (gen 3.2) runs at a little over 90 watts, veges great, and flowers not so great, at least with my experience it didn't. I got/get good yields from the 240s, the yield from my 90 watt was laughable at best.

Depending on how much $$$ you have you maybe should just go all 240s, if you can afford it you should go for all 3w diode 500w panels since blackstars use fewer watts than their name implies. The gpw thing seem like a good indicator of yield, but it really isn't. For example:

Say there are 2 grows, both with 100 watt lights. Grow 1 yields 50 grams, and grow 2 yields 100 grams.

But, how long were those plants vegged? How long did each stay in flower? Were they the same strain?

Because grow 1 could have been a 7 week flower indica, and a 2 week veg, and 4 plants. 9 weeks total. And grow 2 could be 2 plants, sativas, 4 week veg, 14 week flower.

Grow 2 yielded better, 2Xs better, but grow 1 finished in 1/2 the time, with 1/2 the yield. Both essentially yielded identical. And with other comparison grows, there are tons of other factors that could come into play. Like if grow 2 only yielded 75 grams, it seems grow 2 yielded better by 25 grams, but actually yielded less overall because it took much longer to finish.

With mine, I had an indica/satica hybrid, and vegged for 16 days, and did 4 plants per light. 9 weeks flower.

i meant 10feet x 10 feet you think i would need 8-10 600's for that? i think that might be over kill haha sorry if i was misleading

10 x 10 is 100 square feet. Each 500 or 600 could cover apx. 12 square feet each. So yes, 8-10 panels to cover the entire 10 x 10. As much as I like LEDs, that may be a job for 4x 1000 watt HPS, unless you have the money for the LEDs, then by all means, go with the LEDs.

i meant 10feet x 10 feet you think i would need 8-10 600's for that? i think that might be over kill haha sorry if i was misleading

Yeah LED gets pretty expensive for rooms, its kinda only for tents unless you want to buy tons of panels or put some big ones on light movers* *Using light movers is something I'd do for that space. I'd probably use 2 rails so that if these were parallell rails = then drawing a line between the leds across the rails would look like this / / Doing that you could probably get away with even 2 500w LEDs that really use that much, or as many smaller lights as you feel like adding. I'd probably go for about 4 units, GLH 290w or Blackstar 3w diode '500w' panels. All the lights in a fixed position would give you at least 40 sq feet and the light movers would really help expand that, and I don't think the sacrifice would be as bad as with HPS because so much more of the light is useful*

*And GLH is finding with their "Light Lab' results and cannabis tests (controlled grows with lights at different set heights) that the sweet spot for their newer 3w diode lights (esp the 500w) is actually 24-28 in and not much close like people need to with HPS. So distance from the light is not as much an issue here I think

I still think the idea of having a load of small panels hanging all over the place is a stupid idea, how many plugs, sockets and cabling plus each one has to be adjusted to the canopy when the time comes, I think most guys who are using LED and many smaller panels are fooling themselves about being okay with these issues. 2 may be fine, 4 may be fine but what about 12 or more....this is not progressive forward thinking IMO..regardless of what the science may say because of sizing issues.

I am curious about my HTG light, they claim it covers anywhere from 3 x 3 to 5 x 5. I have been using it in a 20" x 20" space @ 6" - 12" above... I wonder if I'd get better results if it were like 12"+.... Like maybe 20" above or something...

They do have the 3 watt diodes (ran at 2 watts each), so penetration isn't an issue.

I'm still calling total bs on the 5 x 5 and it equaling 400 watts of HID, I even told Perry from HTG that via email and phone, he had nothing to say other than it will work best in a 3' circle (nothing on the 400 watt comparison though). Which is way more believable.

And that would be down to the size of the spacing of the diodes, which once again begs the question, why are they doing it this way with the elephant in the room.

So their new 3w diodes somehow defeat the Inverse Square Law? Care to explain?

And Gary,at 10inches from that UFO those seedlings are SERIOUSLY stretched,might wanna put it a bit closer.
