Yea i understand get the good light from the hydro store i could see a difference between the mine in the garage compared to the real t5's! haha. Maybe we can all roll to the hydro store when i am ready to get a T5 and some other goodies like ballast and light for the hps. I already got a MH bulb and 1000 watt ballast. just need the tent and hood.
get some pvc and a bunch of corner pieces and make a bigass box. then cover the box with something like panda film. u can also get one of those zippers that u tape to the film to make a door.

Well a standard t5 bulb puts out something like 2900 lumens.. as opposed to a HO T5 bulb which puts out 5000 per a bulb... The ballast in the fixture can only run the t5 its designed for .. similiar to trying to run a 1000 watt bulb on a 400 watt ballast.

So in order to use the HO t5 bulbs that offer more lumens in the same size area you need a compatible fixture .. IMO standard t5 bulbs dont offer enough lumens in the area they take up to do any serious veg.. If ya get what im saying..
gotcha

Thats not a T5 HO fixture..that is a T8 fixture.. T8's offer less lumens per a watt then a T5HO.. and the bulbs lose intensity over the life of the bulb MUCH faster then a t5's

They work .... So do CFL's ect.. but if your buying a fixture specifically for growing ... and not using a light that was already hanging in your garage.. why not buy the most efficient one that is going to give you better results .. cost you less electricity wise and the bulbs last longer before the degrade to the point they are not productive.. Only way I would run t8's or t12's is if I had a SHit ton of them sitting around and they were free.

On a side not.. the t5's are a smaller diameter bulb... And when you buy a growing specific fixture.. you will notice each bulb has its own reflector directing the light to your plants.. You get more intense light towards the plants your growing. Which is important since Florescent already lack in penetrating abilitity.. if your vegging anything larger then a seedling or clone dome.. and and you dont want stretched plants.. I would use t5 HO's.

Probably putting my foot in my mouth, huh ? :hump:
Nope .. ur correct they work .. not optimum .. but work .. read my post above and you will see my personal reasoning. But if I was on a budget or had no other options... and I seen a t8 hanging in the garage not being used... you can bet I would grab it.

On the other side.. if your purchasing specifically for growing ..

well even though your t5 isnt the HO its still better then T8's in my opinion.. little more efficient .. and A lot longer bulb life... ( not talking when they burn out.. more specifically how long they keep a high lumen output before degrading )

Hey I'll have to shoot ya a picture of the querkel and AG LST'd and looking real healthy. The kid brought home some fox farms Super root and we cloned his two seedlings and the other Sativa and Hindu that are out side. No drooping or nothing. I don't know if that stuff helps but they look better than normal a week into the Rockwool. We have nine different strains at home to chose from next time vegging as mothers. Querkel,AG,Diesel,Mystery Sativa,White berry cross, black berry,Hindu, deadhead og,and a afgahn land race.

TWS .. I just harvested one of the quekles 2 nights ago.. it looks bitchin.. really compact buds too.. Do you soak your rockwool first.. Rockwool is really ffucked when it comes to ph.. you have to soak it for 24 hrs in 4.5-5.5 ph'd water first. If your gonna go at it with no ph meter.. I would use rapid rooters.. I have some, ill give ya a couple next time I see you to try out... The rockwool works fine.. just is harder to ph .. and if thats way off your clones will take forever to root and ect ect.

Heres that querkle :) Check out how solid even the tiny stuff near the soil was..

And I think I gave you a alien OG?
Here is mine that is a little over 3 weeks in .. dont quote me on that lol.. i have to check my calender

Man those are beutiful man ! Yeah it was Alien you gave me,

Did that diesel take ?

Ahh man the kid soaked it in that super root stuff untill the Rock wool was full and cliiped dipped and stuck em in ...... ?

Im sure it will still work.. maybe the ph on the super root stuff is really low.. and its fixing the ph in the rock wool without you knowing it.. lol.

Cloning is pretty easy .. you can clone with just a cup of soil and no rooting hormone and it will work sometimes ... there is just alot of little stuff that can speed up the process and increase your success rate..

I think 3 of the diesels rooted .. and one more im waiting on.. I just put em in beer cups last night :).. cant wait to see how they become.. ill just follow your grow and get a preview.. im a cheater :)

This is funny. The other day I think(couple of weeks ago). I pulled the hose across one of the smaller plants and broke off a nice branch and found it burried in the mud. I picked it up and examined the plant for what I did to it and was gonna throw the broken branch away but decided to try to root it. I threw it in the dogs water bowl til I was done watering, put a diagnal cut on it and stuck it in a beer cup and put it on the patio table in the shade and it flippin rooted. Smashed, dirty,no rooting hormone, and left outside. No effort at all and it"s one of my best looking freash clones.

lol I have done the same thing indoor.. had my glass from a hood fall while i was cleaning it ..cut off a branch .. stuck it in a beer cup.. rooted right up..

wow that querkle looks stellar! even the buds down at the bottom look pretty damn good. i cut that part off rather than let it grow and suck nutes but that part on your plant looks like bud from the upper part.

cant wait to try some it that! never had querkle just the grand daddy purple which is querkle crossed with big bud.

I like our smaller plants outside better. Next year we might not start til the first of june maybe even July. The smaller ones seem to be alot more vigrant with bigger leafs and stronger main branches. Of course they don't have the smaller branch growth the bigger ones have. They just seem more manageable and less obvious. LOL :weed: If our weather stays warm enough into late fall and winter I might throw some small plants or some Iranian autos outside. :peace:

Hey Alotta. Do you remember if the tall clone you gave us was the Alien Og. I mighta got the name tags messed up.

hmm I am fairly sure that I gave you a querkle and Alien Og.. The alien OG will have a little bit wider fingers ..

They are. Just thought you might remember if the tallest one was for sure the OG. I'll see if I can tell if theres a diff in the leafs. Pretty sure I have it right but I had it wrong so the kid says. I got the pots mixed up.
