It's just about the end of this light cycle for esmerelda ( little over an hour to go). No apparent change. She's not any taller, her leaves aren't any bigger, no new leaves seem to be forming, but she's still not showing any signs that death is comming. There is good news though, another seed has cracked. At the start of the next light cycle I'm going to go and plant it.

When I checked this morning, there was one seed that had just started to crack. I just checked again, another seed has cracked, that's 3 so far from the 5. They'll be planted tonight at 10 when the light cycle starts again.

So I went to go plant those 2 seeds a little while ago, turns out another one had cracked. Thats 4 of the 5 seeds in less than 24 hrs. They're all now off in the soil filled peat moss cups and there they shall stay for the next few weeks. What I think I'm going to do is let the 4 of them and esmerelda do their thing for the next few weeks, when it comes time to transplant I'm going to keep which ever two plants look the strongest. I wouldn't be suprised if that's the last we see of esmerelda. But that's another day, and another post. I have pix, but unless someone requests them, I'm not going to bother.

I post pics of my grow just for myself even. Its cool to look back at it all laid out nice!
Its also easier to comment when you can actually see the plant.

I have a new sprout. As of today plant #2 is on it's way, hopefully she has a better life than esmerelda. Right now she stads at just under a half inch tall and is the first of the 4 seeds to sprout. Considering she was planted the day before the rest of them I'm hoping they'll sprout within the next day or 2.

I've encluded a pic of esmerelda, it might just be the angle I toook the pic at, but I think her leaves look alittle bigger. I am alittle concerned for her though, there's some yellowing on her leaves. I'd post a pic but I can't get a clear one in that close.

The first 3 are from 2 days ago, the rest are from about 30 min ago.

Things are finally starting to look up. That seed that sprouted the other day is growing just fine, another seed sprouted a couple of hrs ago. And best of all, Esmerelda is recovering. She is showing definate signs of improvemnt. The leaves that were eaten are starting to grow back annnnnd, new one are now starting to show up.

hey I am new as well but DONT USE FOIL, it is bad for reflecting lights and creates hot spots, since you have a walmart go to the sporting goods section and look for emergencey blankets they are 1.99 and work very well

oh another thing if you are getting yellow leaves, check the ph of your water, I noticed you are using tap water, but you still need to make sure the ph is correct

I've been meaning to pick up some mylar, but I'm already pretty much at the upper limit of my budget. I should be able to swing $1.99 though, how much do those weigh?

I was planning a trip to walmart some time this weekend to get a ph kit.

Of the 4 seeds the crack, the 4th one just sprouted today. They're all sitting under my daylight bulbs, I am expecting great things, great things from this bunch.

The only person who responded told me to bury roberta up to her leaves... so i did. If Esmerelda can come back from being eaten, I think Roberta can survive this.

Her time has come. Roberta was getting sadder looking by the hour. She started out as the strongest of the 4, at the end she was so small and shrivled...She will be missed. Today is also the day that I stop expecting to see anything from Dory. She started to sprout, and then just stopped, don't know what happened. So now it's just Esmerelda, Moon Beam, and Princess Consuela. Moon Beam and Princess Consuela are looking very strong and Esmerelda looks like she's sprouting a new leaf every day. I'll post pics either later tonight or tomorrow.

You shouldn't be losing sprouts.. seriously.. LOL.. what are you doing? =)

3 days isn't enough time to give up on a sprout breaking ground either..

Why did we trash Roberta? She was still green yes? You coulda buried her to stand up straight or you could have given her a crutch.. either way.. patience my dear..

Roberta looked as though she was ready to go. I had buried her up to her leaves. but she was shriveling up so fast. When I finally ended it her leaves were smaller than they were when she sprouted and she was starting to turn alittle brown.

As for Dory, you know how when they just sprout, when they broke through no more than a few hours before hand, how they're bent over? The top of that curve broke through the day after Moon Beam and Princess Consuela sprouted. It was maybe half a mm above the soil. And then she just stopped. Damnedest thing. I haven't gotten rid of her, she's still in there with the rest of them, I'm just not expecting anything from her anymore.
