How do I lower the ph? Its super high!

The ph is 8.0-8.9 and i need to lower it, i know over time the composts will lower it but i need a fast and EASY way. (not sulfur, unless sulfur is some basic household item).

I used a pool tester btw, meaning I used the water run off from the plant and tested it with a little cotton swab stick.

Alright there my friend,
As far as house hold things you could use, 2 i can think of #1 fill up a gallon jug and add 1/4 teaspoon of vinegar untill you get the ph you want. #2 cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into the water/solution, then take little bits and go slow because it makes the ph go down fast, peace dude

I will try it. Thanks! Also do you know if plants reject smokey environments. Because I smoke a lot in my room and I believe some goes over by the plant but im not really sure. Could that be a problem for the plants growth or air circulation.

I would question that your soil is actually almost pH9 in the first place, how did you get it this high in the first place???? {eace

It has like 5 different cotton paper tabs. U dip them all in the solution (for instance the run off from my soil) and it tells you how much chlorine, bromine, alkaline, etc... and then at the bottom it tells the ph and u compare it to the color. Which is why i say such a rough ph estimate because I had to compare it to the colors. Theres no chlorine, and the ph reads 8.4-9.0.

forgot to add, I use water with the ph of 6.4 and a ppm of 599(Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water). The soil i used obviously must be the problem. It has a lot of composts which means in about 6-7 days those should break down and lower it. I used Kelloggs brand. It was like $4.99...

I never did anything to the soil. All I know is soil made in the western parts of california have a lot of limestone and different lime materials that increase the ph. It takes about 1-3 week to fix itself once water is added.

No way is your soil pH9 unless thats some special soil brand i dont know about! Most soil is between 6.3 to 7 straight out of the bag, at that pH weed wont grow so i doubt it seriously. There is no true way to read pH but soil runoff can give you an indication of overall pH.

Still no way that soil is that alkaline without you seriously messing it up. I would doubt the readings of the pool tester sorry. Got pics of these plants? Peace

;) you can just simply add drops of lime juice easy fast and check for yourself, works for me, but heck got a gigantic plant leaves big as your head just using the hose,,, ha ha 8ph everything here is 8, guess the plant liked the sink hole under it,,,

Soil is too hot as they say meaning with poop and such you need to open and let sit for a few days to cool off, you can burn the roots and 1st need to start with a good clone, the books say never start with clone use seeds, clones can have bugs and bad genitics ya never know, I got master kush clones and darn it should of got them in daylight, the root where burned (to many nutes) so stunted, that clone might just not make it, you might just have to baby it, put in warm place with high humid air, and let it recover, just water it, no nutes, you might have to flush it if you put in in that hot dirt.

It may be different in your state but all potting soil as i know it unless stated on the bag is generally pH 6 to 7. They follow tried and tested soil principles. I could not say it is pH 9 for definates but the plant isnt telling me that so id chill with the whole pH thing for a bit.

The bottom leaves, yellow ones look like it was overwatered, no drainage in a big pot, wana talk about how and when you water as well as how dry you let the soil get and pot lightness before watering? Peace

haha trust me man they arent over watered. They sat in 100% dry soil (checked 4 inches deep with finger) for 24 hours then I watered it and it drains verrry well.

Its not a pH problem that i can see either. They dont look too bad, how long in between waterings anyway? Someone sugessted that it was a new clone or young clone? Peace
