Hey guys, Had a major problem with my last grow. Maybe someone could shed some light on the issue.
Heres the set up:
1 x 1000w light in air cooled hood 3-4ft from plants
Plants vegged till about 12-16" height in 6" pots before 12/12
Room steady at 82 degrees
No moisture production (humidifier) for 75% of flower
Now they were super happy until about 4-5 weeks from harvest. The fan leaves started going yellow and falling off. Now all the leaves are yellow and it seems like the plants cant produce much crystal. Also about 4 weeks from finish they developed a nasty spider mite infestation. At first i tried to save them but just gave up due to their condition.
Its too painful to snip off every dead leaf so Im going to chop them all down and make hash out of them. So hopefully its not a total waste. I did lower the light to about 2-3 feet from the plants and thats when they started yellowing. after a couple weeks of that i moved the light back up because i thought i was killing them. Im not sure if thats a coincidence or the start of the end. Also after i put the cool air humidifier in the room it didnt seem to help at all. Also to note. The crystals didnt turn amber at all. I have a suspicion that they didnt have enough energy to mature to the final stage.
So Ive come to several conclusions:
A. Overheating and not enough moisture in the air, so the fan leaves died off.
B. The roots became rootbound in the small pots and the plants could not support all their leaves AND produce crystals.
C. Spider Mites caused damage to the leaves, preventing them from absorbing enough nutrients to support themselves.
C is highly unlikely because they started dieing before the mites showed up.
B is very likely because they ended up about 2-3ft tall be the end, and thats pretty big for little 6" pots. I intended to SOG alot of little plants in these pots but ended up vegging them too long.
Any thoughts guys?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: Ive harvested a few and when i take the earth out of the pot the roots have formed around the edges and are yellow/brownish. Also, the problem with reason A is that even after putting a cool air humidifier in the room and running it 24hrs a day the problem continued to worsen. Shouldnt that have alleviated the issue if it was due to lack of moisture?
