Humic acid, azomite question

I left a post on the organic forum but no good responses so now I'm here with the same question. How much of each should I add per container? I know all about the SS but where I'm from it's too cold to bake the soil outside now so I'm screwed on that option til spring time. Any advice from vets with correct knowledge would be appreciated, a response from subcool would be nice too. Thanks in advance for any info on this subject. Oh yeah I'm using 1 and 3gal nursery pots if that helps

from what i understand one can leave the containers in their basement and it does just fine for 'cooking' or anywhere in your house for that matter

it doesnt matter what the temp is, if you wanna make s.s. but the o.p. doesnt.

if you wanna use azomite and humic acid in plain bag soil i would suggest using it at the same rate as directed in s.s thread.

The best source of Humic Acid is good compost. I understand that Humic Acid is actually a group of potential molecular configurations. The configuration you get is pH dependent. The harvesting of Humic Acid for commercial production can create a less optimal variant. We see time and again that going more natural gets better.

thanks for the input and yea im talkin about bag soil, FFOF with light warrior. would me using LW eliminate the use of humic acid. another thing is I'm growing under cfl's so me using SS is pointless because of the lack of heat. I was on here a few months ago n sum1 told me if u dont use HID lamps it wouldnt work, pretty sure it was kushking who told me

I'm doing the SS system. Right now growing seedlings in straight Rootz. This is my first SS grow, so I can't say from experience, but I would say that you would be fine. Worst case scenario, make that blended middle layer a little bigger, so the plants hit straight SS later when they're bigger. Also, consider letting the SS age longer than 4 weeks to "cool" it down more

Personally I like Roots Organic much better than FFOF, and I used to use FFOF for years. For the azomite I'd go somewhere around 1 tbsp/ cubic foot of medium, and as was stated above one of the best sources for humic acid is very old compost (worm castings are another good source). If you're using powdered humic acid you have to be careful because too much is not a good thing. Myself, I use Ancient Forest, (made by General Organics which is made by GH) and really like it. Best of luck.

Wolverine, i love the ancient forest. i put a thick mulch layer on all my outdoor pots like 40 bags worth. are you adding it to your super soil and cooking with it? its great for compost teas too!

Yessir I do. I've been getting lazy about my teas, but I was using it as a base along with castings. I first noticed how awesome it was when I top dressed a couple plants with it and the roots grew up through the soil surface to get to that shyte. Now it's part of my normal mix, composing around 5-7% of my total soil volume.

You don't need heat to make the SS work. As far as the humic acid and azomite, why not just follow the instructions to make the SS normally? It sounds like youre making it pretty complicated trying to divide it up by container.

No. They are very weak and I haven't heard much good about them. Myself, I use General Organics and love it.
