I've been a mod on several boards. It's a thankless job and you get lots and lots of shit heaped on you.

i am a mod on another board and its way 2 time consuming. i couldn't handle another mod job. haha
I used to be one on a paranormal website. You think this is bad? Wait until you deal with superstitious/deluded individuals who report other posters as hexing them or cursing them. I even had one guy complain that a poster sent a werewolf to his house. It was maddening. Thank God my modship covered the spirituality/religion forum and their version of toke and talk. Not so much weirdness there. :p

LOFL. did you ever get pissy because you felt like you're doing all the work and the other mods disappeared. like you're there helping people with their delusion and the rest of the mods are off god knows where, doing god knows what and the place is falling apart? You're like where did that fucker go, they always have some crazzy name too & you think of them by this stupid name that's nothing even remotely clsoe to what they would ever seem like in a million years if you met them.

your board actually sounds like fun. i should go there. i met some witches next door. i think i will see if i can get involved in the group. it sounds intresting.

i like modding even though it can be time consuming. i do get to help people and generally they are very nice. i've made a lot of great connections.

Things I learned as a mod:

  1. Don't take it personal
  2. Never confront a poster privately. It will always bite you in the ass. Keep it professional, follow the guidelines
  3. Don't let it go to your head. Keep a good perspective about your position. Remember you're helping out, not creating more problems
  4. Just because you're friends with someone doesn't give them a free pass on infractions (if they're taking advantage of your position then they're not really friends)
  5. Keep a good sense of humor
  6. Smoke lots of weed.

It's no longer running. It was called paranormal.com. It was owned by two paranormal investigators and they were damn good at it. I miss a lot of those folks.

The dust will settle after a while. It's all new and shiny. Once there are a few dings and dents it will be fine. :D
