Whereas I agree with most of this, I have an issue with the "fair share" clause. Who defines "wealthy" and who determines "fair share". Furthermore, I know of a lot of pot growers who make MUCH MORE MONEY than I do with my management job at a small company here in the foothills. I pay my taxes on my income....They do not...And they're perfectly willing to keep it that way. Is that...."fair"? Is it fair that they make more money than I yet pay no taxes?

Depends if they are legal growers or illegal, if they are illegal then it's the governments own damn fault. Here in Colorado I know quite a few medical growers that were pushed back underground due to being fucked by the states new laws, people that would have been happy paying taxes. I suspect a lot of growers in illegal states would also be more than willing to pay taxes if their govt didnt treat them like child molesters.

I disagree. I live in a legal state and most of the growers I know do not pay taxes. Wanna know why? Yes, I'm going to say it....GREED.
And if anyone was to tell me that "greed" doesn't exist in the pot community, they'll be met with a heart "guffaw" from me.
So...I live in a legal state, I pay taxes on my income as a lowly working stiff while these entrepreneurs/business owners that grow a lot of pot and make a lot of money get away with no taxes. Hypocrisy? Hmmm....I suppose that's one way of looking at it, yes? But something tells me somebody will chime in and say "No...It's "different"..."

i suppose you are correct for the vast majority of growers in your state.
all i can come back with is that i voted for a ballot measure in nov 2010 that would have taken 10% out of whatever i made in addition to all normal taxes, plus a $1,000 per year fee to be a legal 'producer'. of course, like all ballot measures concerning cannabis (except 203 in AZ) it got voted down by an outpouring of tea partiers at the polls.
the people in my state spoke loud and clearly: NO, WE DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY.
that's good enough for me for now, but we'll be back at the polls in 2012 to try to get them to take our money so that we may come out of the cannabis closet.

Of course greed plays a part but it's not unique to growers. I know a guy who makes over $200,000 a year buying cars at auctions and reselling them and claims $16k on his taxes. His wife even reported him to the IRS when they divorced and nothing happened, no audit, nothing. I don't know what state you live in but I think in just about every medical state growers/caregivers are the ones that are fucked with and are still treated like criminals. So given the current climate who in their right mind is going to announce to the govt they grow?

Here's the gig UB...I personally don't have a problem with someone who wants to keep their money. They earned it. Why can't they keep it? Personally, I think it is I who happens to be the victim here. I work for my money and the state comes along and takes their "fair share". I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy, or dichotomy, if I may of people who are quick to criticize wealthy business owners for not paying their "fair share" while raking in money from pot sales and not paying a dime. nodrama and falafel (feff f) have told me i should send the irs a check every year or report my earning which are illegal on a federal level (the irs lets you report illegal earnings).
i don't see how that provides them any incentive to stop calling me a criminal. i like to think i'm incentivizing them to stop calling me a criminal so they can take my damn money.
