New pics I just snapped 10 mins ago :D. Think about a week left? I'm semi concerned about the amount of leaves the RD has dropped, but whatever, it's so near to it's death that I don't really care :D They're smelling so bomb, not from a distances though, only when you go up touch them then smell your hands.. The Red Dragon is insanely sweet smelling, while the Dolce Vita just smells like skunky lemons almost, really lemony though.. can't wait! :D

I'd give the Dolce Vita another week and a half just because its a sativa and from what I hear, sativas are best when harvested late. Dolce Vita looks fucking insane though. As beautiful and colorful as a fully decorated Christmas tree! I would replace the yearly Christmas tree with it if it were legal.

Thanks for the kind words guys, this is seriously getting tortuous lol! I'm getting pretty worried with the news of rainstorms coming by wednesday and thursday.... How big of a threat it this to my crop? Do you think I would be regretting it a few months from now if I harvested before/after the rain? I would really hate to have them all rot from the excess moisture, will the extra 5 days really make that big of a difference? I'm going to try to build the structure out of pvc piping today. :D Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.... It's my first day off in over a month :)

I would definitely make some sort of shelter from the rain. That bud rot is a bitch! I made mine out of pvc I had from my tom cages last year. I bought 3 rolls of 3mil clear drop cloths to cover them. The only thing I am worried about is if it rains super hard and splashes up. good luck. Enjoy your day off.

I used to put a temporary black ben over my outdoor plants during heavy rain to keep it from knocking them over.

Here's some pics before the rain.. I'm still contemplating whether or not to cut the big tops off to avoid mold... Here they are, they're not too dense but I guess they're pretty big, thoughts?

any thoughts on whether I should pull them today or leave them for the rain? I probably won't have time to make a cover today... :-?

Stopped feeding them that flowering tea and bloombastic a few weeks ago. Didn't check the trichomes, I never ended up getting that scope lol. I think I will be chopping them soon, just waiting on my dad to get home from work to run it by him :D. Are you a real doctor? Lol I never knew! It's about to start raining, my friend already started harvesting the purple haze and the chernobyl. It sure came to an end quick.. lol

Thanks for the input jin, I bought some scissors on my way home from school :D. Same spring loaded fiskars as JJ heheh.

hi Brandon!
haha,of course im a doctor..doctor amber trichome...lol. just kidding.i work in the health care field with cancer paitients but im no doc. though once in a while someone calls me doc. and i have to laugh ...I have learned in my short time growing that a few days doesnt make much diffference at all. I have had more problems waiting too long to harvest then too soon. And those buds are sooo ready to get chopped . I would do it especially with the rain coming. Good luck with your harvest dude. Congratulations on a wonderful job!

My vacation was great! I saw and did so much it was amazing. The weather was perfect. In amsterdam i smoked a lot of jack herrer (one of my favs) from the Doors coffee shop, Maui Mist tfrom the Grey Area and Pineapple Chunk and Tangerine Dream from Barneys. I enjoyed all of them very much.
My bud of Pineapple Chunk from Barneys had 7 fuckin seeds in it!!! hahahah, if i wasnt a grower id be pissed but i have them here now ready to grow! I got really lucky in dam with that and great weather.

I hope things are going well for you in school.. how is the super lemon haze doing? Have you found a safe haven for her to finish up in? What are your plans for your next grow. I bet your parents are really super proud of you Brandon.
Im glad i made it back to see the chop.

The deed has been done :D. Both the RD and DV are hanging up in the horse trailer, I'm just taking a break from trimming to smoke :). I'm sooo excited for it to dry and be ready for smoke, this journey has been amazing. Things are going well in school, I'll probably be devoting a lot more time to it now that these are chopped and out of my worries. The SLH is just beginning to get really hairy, I think I've convinced my friend to bring it into his indoor tent under a 1000w hps.

I've already talked to my dad about next year lol. As of now (but I'm sure it'll change as I read more), I plan to put them in a different spot of my yard that isn't as hidden but gets a lot more direct sunlight. I plan on doing a small raised bed for each plant on top of a huge hole I fill with Subcool's super soil. I haven't decided completely on strains right now, but I'm thinking the Island Sweet Skunk I grew in the 2 gal smartpot will be one of them. The only major hiccup is next fall I will be leaving to whatever 4 year I get accepted into (probably cal poly SLO or UCSD) so my parents will have to take care of them the final month or two (the real battle) lol.

In the meantime though I'll be helping my friend with his indoor grow whenever I can, not to mention stopping by all of yours to check it out XD. Glad to hear about the great trip Amber, can't wait to see that Pineapple Chunk grow! Was the weed there super bomb like the legends I've heard or is it similar to Cali club weed?

Thanks for all the help everyone, this grow was a great success in my eyes (Even though less than half of the seeds I originally purchased survived!)!! Can't wait for next year to roll around so I can put all this knowledge I've built up this year to good work :D

EDIT: I'll take some pics as I trim, didn't get any while harvesting though :(

very cool brandon. haha, you remind me so much of another one of my good buddies on this site..wowgrow...hes off studying physics at uni in London, England right now. You are both such cool young brilliant men with amazing ambition and talents.

Im so glad you chopped and got those buds down. You did the right thing and i know it feels great. The achivement of a successful grow and all that hard work has payed off.

Yeah, thats a very good question you pose about dams weed being super bomb..... years ago i would have said fuck yeah, but now with what we have growing on here on the west coast it really isnt much different at all. We are very fortunate to have the dispensaries and awesome strains here right at our fingertips. We are getting dope just as good if not better then dam really. The selection i have here in washington state at my dispenseries is more impressive then the menus in the coffeeshops.. we have come a long way and i feel so very fortunate about that.

have an awesome night Brandon. I will be looking foward to your harvesting pictures. Nice to chat with you again.
Peace
Dr. Trichome.lol
