Yeah I heard that was just a myth, at least when it comes to rye jars that is. I know it has to be dark when they colonize in the bulk trays, but not in the jars.You DO need darkness if you want to conrol your pinning.
and thats what happened to a few of my jars. i have no idea where the light came from though.it was covered 2x over and the tub was spray painted.premature light with jars will cause "border breaks" or pins on the sides inside the jar.
