I would keep the hps and cfls on 18hrs but my shitty timer cant handle it all. Have to manually turn them off/on. 16hrs should keep the node spacing tight.

I dont think my plants can handle the hps being 10" away. Box temps 81 degrees. Temp under the hps by the leaves are 87ish. Raised the light to about 12". Maybe it was just the transition from cfls to hps.

They were under that hps for 16hrs. Think i should turn it down to 12hrs?

How can your timer not handle it?? I bought a timer for only $10 and it holds
-3 power strips with like 4 bulbs on each
-lamp
-fans
-another set of cfl's coming off the main power strip

You probably know this, and i am even having the same issue of keeping box temp down, but anything above 80degrees F is going to slow growth. Is there anyway you can vent air through your box. 87 degrees on your plants is pretty high, but if you have a fan blowing on those leaves (leaves are moving constantly) it makes the situation better.

Its a piece of crap lol. It might be able to handle it. Its close though. The hydro shop has timers. Ill buy a better one from there..

ya those leafs are starting to turn into a canoe shape, they dont like the heat
Yea. I am going to cut down to 12hrs. They are close to 2 weeks. Light is at 12" away now. Witch it should be able to go 8" without being a problem. I think it might have been the transition.. Going to kick off 12/12 and see how it goes. :D

I have 2 fans running. One is blowing up at the hps. Also the front of my box is open during lights on. Once it starts cooling off out side my temps will drop inside. I think the 16hrs of hps is to much also. We'll see.

Edit: Raised the hps from 8" to 12" away. Been 4 hours. Leaves are filling back up with water and flattening back out.. :D :leaf::leaf: still cutting to 12/12

Where do you live dude, it's pretty cool up here in washington. Also, that sucks if you can't leave your lights on for the whole 18 hours. I feel like you'll be loosing some growth; but maybe that's ok as your last grow got a little too big. Also i have found a cool way to keep those leaves cool. When you are home and are able to, spray the leaves with clean pure water. It really makes a difference (at least for me)... Just a thought.

12/12 ftw

I live in florida. It stays hot out a lot of the year. The AC keeps the room at about 78. Once it starts cooling off my temps will be better. Just noticed the heat damage is only on the indicas. My shitty mexican regs are fine.

Right on man looks great. The flower stretch is always fun. Especially when they are small like that. I enjoy watching em blow up. :leaf:

Haha pretty funny dude.. those shitty mexican regs are use to that hot ass heat. At least you have AC, that makes everything a bit easier.

mmm I met some guy named Randy outside my hotel in orlando, we got in his car and drove 10 minutes to get a twenty bag. Ended up getting 5g's of some damn nice bud. He said it was just weed, up here we call lower grade mids but the "mids" of florida are pretty delicious from my experience, and generous.

24 hours runs the chance of stressing the plant. Also, the plant likes to have the lights out at some point and will continue to grow because when the light are on, the plant intakes co2 and exhales o2, but when the lights are off, it is the exact opposite; plant intakes o2 and exhales co2. This cycle is what the plant is genetically designed to do and will respond positively to these conditions.

Also, heat is sometimes and issue, but HL4M has A/C.

Hows that sound HighLife??

24 hours is the standard the industry uses. Plants grow by photosynthesizing light. The more light the plant has, the more it grows. Plant's don't have a nervous system so they shouldn't need any "sleep" or rest, unless it's being used to trigger it's flower cycle.
