Sup guys!!! Well, I've got some good news and bad news. Bad news is that I've got some fungus on a few buds.
Good news is that I've been doing my homework and I'm confident that I can prevent this from happening in the future.
First off, I haven't been giving my plants the attention they need. I know that my humidity is a steady 50% during lights on, but I suspect it's getting up to 65-70% during lights off... if not more. Unfortunately I'm using my hygrometer for drying right now, but I'm going to combat the problem with Damp-Rid + increased circulation through the lower buds, as well as spot-applications of a sulpher-based fungicide and removal of affected buds. I've also noticed that the fungus is growing on dead plant material so I've tripled my efforts at inspecting and removing dead material. I'm also going to ease back on waterings and in the future, add perlite to my soil for better drainage.
^one harvested plant, minus moldy buds. I expect an ounce.
I harvested the plant that was most affected, and paid close attention while trimming for more mold. I found 4-5 buds total that had signs of mold, and I am taking extra precautions while drying to keep it from popping up again (mold spores are everywhere all the time, it's just a matter of preventing them from taking hold. No visible mold is safe to smoke, but visible mold can make you sick) My other 2 plants had one bud each that was affected so I removed the moldy buds, treated the surrounding buds with fungicide, and carefully removed all dead material.
SMOKE REPORT: the high is strong, 2-3 hits and I'm stoned. Energetic and cerebral, perfect for work and play. I harvested one plant earlier than I would have liked, all cloudy, no amber, but I'm happy with the results. Taste has that familiar diesel yumyum, proper drying and curing are needed obviously
