5th Grow, Same Problems. Advice?

What up fellow rollers? This is about my 5th round of flowering and every time I start to loose leaves round week 2. I have talked about this in other threads before but now I got some pictures to help. Here is my set up

5 Gal Pots with Root Organics Soil (not 707)
600 W HPS
Root Organics Nutrients

Its been 14 days of 12/12 now and the bottom leaves started to go first.
About 7 days into flower I did a water/feed with: (all per gal)

15ml RO Grow
15ml RO Extreame Serine
15ml RO Trinity
10ml Calplex
5ml Earth Juice Micro Blast
5ml Molasses

After mixing that all up and getting the ph to 6.5 I found the ppm to be around 1500. I then cut the mixture 50/50 and got 850 ppm.

I have been adding 2 tsp of Epsom salt to the watering between feedings.

Last night I did a foliar feed of Extreme Serine, Micro Blast, and Calplex. Mixed 1.25ml of each ingredient into 4 cups water.

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations! (+ Rep :bigjoint:)

Might try cutting out the Epsom salts or reducing concentration and only using it for foliar feed and bumping up the molasses a little. Are you checking your soil and runoff pH as well as that of your feeding solution? I'd keep an eye out for pH drift in your soil if you're adding Epsom salts to every other watering over time. I would think you'd be fine on micronutrients with the foods you have listed, minus the Epsom salts, unless you're in an area with very soft water (assuming you're using tap water). If you're dead set that you need the Epsom salts, maybe try a 2-stage mini-flush with your plain watering every other time, where you water enough to get the soil wet throughout but not runoff, wait about ten minutes to give built up salts in the soil time to dissolve, then water again to the runoff point. Maybe try this once and check your runoff pH to see if you've got a lot of build up in your soil?

Good luck mate,

SL

I have checked the ph of the soil and it shows 6.5-7 using one of those probes with the meter. I haven't checked the run off on this grow, previous times its been ok (6-7). Maybe I should check it again...

In previous grows I have attempted less nutrients, more nutrients (Root Organics Grow and Bloom) and it's never an improvement. Thats why I thought I would change things up by adding the Epsom. I keep thinking this is a micro nutrient problem, but as you can see I am no expert.

Have all 5 grows been with the same strain? If the Epsom salts are a new thing and you had the problem before you started using them (i.e. on previous grows) then that might not be the problem. Your canopy looks fine (from what I can tell under the HPS orange), are the yellowed leaves you snapped pics of the only ones you have, or is it a problem throughout? You'll almost always lose a leaf here and there, especially from the lower plant, and especially after changing something (like starting flowering). Your pics 4 & 7 do look like they might be a Ca or Mg deficiency (kind of hard to tell, a little blurry), but I wouldn't want to feed more than you already are and I'm not really seeing it in the other pics. Anxious to see if one of the gurus around here will chime in.

This is my second grow with these 2 strains (White Russian and Pineapple Express). The previous grows were UBC Chemo and Sour Diesel and they developed the same problems. By week 5 most of my good fan leaves are toast. The upper leaves are good right now, but I can see a few spots where it looks like the uppers are about to follow suite. I understand that loosing a few leaves here and there is normal, but this is just how its been going for me and I hope that I could stop it this time. The lady's will be ready for a watering tonight so I need a plan of action. Thanks for looking, sorry for the shotty pictures.

Most quality soil should have great PH buffering capacity, I'd imagine it's just an N deficiency. I lean towards the aggressive side of the feeding schedule with my plants.

I was planning to feed with the Root Organics Grow and some Micro Blast, so that would take care of a N def.... if that is the problem :?

I have used the same stuff for all the grows, Roots Grow, Bloom, Trinity, and Extreme Serine. I have just started on this grow adding the Epsom, Cal, and Micro Blast

Yeah, previous grows did not have the cal-mag, nor the Micro Blast added, and I use tap water (letting sit with an air stone for 24hrs). I have considered going for a lower ph on the feeds....

Room humidity is low, 34 percent. My temps run pretty good, 75 day, 62 night. All under a 600w Lumatek HPS

Just want to add, dolomite lime, it should be added to most "bagged" soils as they use peat which can break down after several months causing ph issues. The lime helps stabilize the soils ph and it also adds cal/mag which these plants love. It can still be added, but it takes about 7-10 days to start working and you can expect some ph swings while it stabilizes..

I have heard of people adding lime to the root organics soil before planting. I could add some as a top dressing, but as I stated before my ph soil tester shows 6.5 ish. I will be testing the run off tonight to get a better idea. But I still need to figure what to feed them tonight. I am leaning to about 10ml Grow, 10ml Micro Blast, 10 Calplex, 10ml Molasses.
