Don't grow until you CAN afford the necessities. NL will smell to high heaven, and that can get you caught. If you think smoking it smells, wait until you can smell your indoor grow half way down a 100 yd driveway!!! When that happens, even the Jehovah's Witnesses become the enemy rather than mere entertainment

Hey guys just finished my DIY carbon filter and boy it works better than i thought thanx slimmy for the link

filled till small cup was level with the rimm of the big can

then filled the side all the way up to the rim

then i used paper towel to block airflow from coming backwards and to force the air through all the carbon no leaks !!

here is an finished inside look

and here she is all completed ready to be mounted

the fruits of my hard labor

and here she is installed and working hard ( gotta love the duct tape i saw it and couldnt resist lol )

but as you can also see i didnt use the larger mesh cup cause im experimenting with having a more enclosed capsul with less leaks for the air so it kinda compresses in there and really gets scrubbed by the carbon............i figure it will work it makes sense to me

So do I need some kind of silver ducting? I was thinking about getting one with a fan, so I put the silver ducting inside the tent? then put the machine out of the tent? I'm kinda confused, because I've never used one before. please help me someone.

Daifala. Forget carbons filters, forget scrubbers, or anything complicated. All you need to know for odor control is the magic number 73. At 73 degrees Fahrenheit, the oils inside the plant release the most amount of odor. Every degree after 73 degrees will bring more odor. As long as you keep the entire room or area below 73 degrees, smell will be no issue. You can even buy these AMAZING candles at Yankee candle store for 1$ each that have heavy odor eliminating with them. However, if you plan on growing for a long time, The best thing that will be your true ally is a carbon filter. I use one 700cfm 8inch carbon filter, heavy ona spraying around my house, odor eliminating candles and gels, and heavy cooking to get rid of smell. Any extra step you take decreases your chances of hitting the worst case scenario.

If it were me, I def would listen to Broken's advice ... Candles, gels, cooking etc ... anything that would take up the scent is great. If you need one, spend the $25 or so like Oscalli said and made (Not that hard to do) ...Those are the best scenario's (IMO) that would get you out of the bind that you are currently in as far as odor control.

Some guy said that you could probably smell the plants from 100 yards away, and I'm planing to grow in my room and my apartment has a hall way and people walk by all the time, i just don't know how too setup the carbon filter do I need the silver hoose? do I put it in the tent, and leading it outside of the holes in the tent? and put the filter outside the tent?

It's common to place both the suction fan and the filter outside of the tent via the use of duct work or flexible expanding duct hose.

Northern Lights is a very low odor smelling plant

I grew N.L and did not need a filter for it , N.l has a nice sweet smell to it , not that strong skunky weed smell your thinking about

Im not saying to not get a filter , cuz you do need one specially with different strains , but with N.l the smell is not that much of a concern

Now dont get me wrong N.l does smell , its just not that strong skunk weed smell

Ocallis diy filter looks pretty good and id go with that if you can

Happy growing
