Texas Sheriff's Dept. Gets Unmanned Aerial Drone, But Don't Worry: "It'll Be Used For Situations We Have With Criminals."

" the FAA reported then that police departments across the country were lining up to apply for their own drones."

Texas Sheriffs Department said:
"In the future, the drone may carry weapons (it's designed to do so), but Gage says he sees no immediate need to equip it with any. The drone can be armed with what Gage calls "less lethal weapons" such as Tasers and stun batons. A couple of deputies are almost finished training to pilot ShadowHawk from the ground, and the residents of Conroe might see the helicopter in action as soon as December 2011"
Don't you guys think this is taking it a step too far perhaps?

Maybe Thats just a tad too far for jihad?

Maybe perhaps maybe xray grenade firing drones don't belong in a free society?

these things aren't cost effective as of yet.

they have to lay off 500 police officers to buy a drone... it's the military industrial complex.... it creates jobs... ;)

Ou government with their "PATRIOT" act is way out of control. And there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop it at this point.

This is another great step forward for our country- this will make it easier to kill bad guys without having to waste time and money with trials and lawyers and jails, this way we just kill all the bad guys and america wins. It's going to be so cool when these things are everywhere, I thought all the helicopters were cool but these will be way better.

Will these be able to fly into airspace that manned aircraft wouldn't normally be able to fly in?

lol. Those "drones" can be purchased at the local mall for 100 bucks. I saw the exact same model with a different paint job for sale there yesterday. That's less of a drone and more of a toy helicopter with a video camera strapped to the bottom.

Stop Dan, you are ruining the misconception that every drone is a predator or reaper operated by a maniac just waiting to bomb civilians sleeping in their beds.

Shh....just let the children run wild - it's easier than actually correcting them.

I hope they beam it live into our homes. Liberals can watch it blow up tea partiers and tea partiers can watch it blow up hippies and public service union members

Wow , $100 dollar toy helicopters with FLIR, thats fucking cool, boy the prices on FLIR sure have come down alot over the years, the ones i worked on cost a minimum of $7 million each, but thats high tech military shit, i imagine the $100 heli doesn't have one that costs so much. Video looks as good though.

wow. 7 million! I recently bought a quantum light meter and the company sent me a catalog with FLIR cameras priced between $2-6k. I've seen occupy protests using these same helicoptors with streaming cameras attached to them to check out police activity. Guess these things can be used for or against the police.

Also I just found the newest and most deadly drone yet. It's top sekret so shhhhh! Don't tell anyone.
