No, thats not true. When you do a vacuum purge you are pulling a vacuum below atmospheric pressure and you are actually boiling out any moisture.

I'm not heating super hot. I'm just putting a jar into hot water that's just slightly below simmering. But when i put it in the chamber, it starts boiling up hard. Done 3 purges so far.

this was some leftover BHO i had from my previous run that i threw on the skillet, its still just a oil, i guess glass is just out of my reach...

no the moon rock wont melt back into oil, you have to rock up the oil.and i boil water in a tea pot so whatever the temp just under boiling is waht i use

I have done large runs that take 24-48 hours of constant attention and stirring toget a clean product, at 140* anyway. You cut time off of purging with every increase in temp, just as decarboxylization increases with the same heat.
So for hi THC, lo CBD...a long low temp purge is in order, unless you have some ungodly source of vac. I think mosy people work around 25 inches. Thats about the most a gettro setup will maintain.
So at 25" of vac at 140* ....on a larger run...I have sat there for 2 days and the hotplate never goes off. It requires constant stirring due to the constantly changing viscosity of the oil. The deeper the layer of oil...the more difficult to purge.
The pain in the ass is this....the tiny bubbles will fool you. They can SEEM to be gone, but after vigorous agitation....you will notice the champagne like lines still bubbling up. Thats what takes forever. Thats the diff in almost clean... and clean.
Strains also play a role in how quickly and effectively the purge goes. Terpene levels are different....it causes different viscosities in different 'strains' of oil. So one "recipie" for purging may not work on all strains. It will be a base, but you gotta watch that oil!!...See what its doing. Those bubbles have to get gone.

well...., it has worked for my homie. I dont like shatter. I get that sticky dust everywhere when I scrape it.
I never asked him how he collected it...prolly some latex gloves.
When I have gone back to a pan scraping up in corners (call me jonesy) it turns to shatter from just sitting open for a few weeks.
I hate getting that shit on my fingers. Its like its harder to get off than plain tane.

BTW - I saw this stuff for sale at a dispensary the other day. It looked like it was mixed at about 3 parts kief to one part oil. It was sold as "sticky bubble kief" or some shit like that. Was going for $32 a gram. The dispensary seemed to have no idea what it was as they had just got done giving me a big speech about why they don't sell oil. lol

I did several purges yesterday. It made it A LOT cleaner, but it's still not done yet. I've broken it all down by gram and am going to purge them again individually. I think I just had too much oil in the jar to really purge all at once. It did have a fantastic effect though. It's a lot more solid now, less bubbles, etc. But it's not shatter yet. I want shatter damn it!
This will turn into shatter eventually if I keep purging right?

What is removed from the BHO to get it to shatter form?
Is it butane or water? perhaps various, less vicious terpenes?
