i agree that "bigger Govt equals less individual rights", but how were the liberal SCOTUS justices making that a reality by dissenting in gonzalez v. raich?

it seems pretty clear to me that the "small government" conservative justices were the ones who ruled in favor of stripping individual rights granted by the state.

You see you keep interrupting my posts from a partisan viewpoint which is exclusively an American thing. Just cos I call for small government doesn't make me a conservative the way you'd interpret it. I told you before, I'm a "pragmatic libertarian" in the sense that I know the rigid "political belief" (ie. left and right) system is broken but a complete overhaul of a "country's political system" is neither wanted nor desired by most of the population.

Therefore we (AKA the public of the world) need pragmatic non-partisan solutions which have an emphasis on promoting the personal freedoms of the individual. For example I said replace welfare entitlement with an optional social insurance system that pays out to those who have paid in. I said reduce Govt to run only Defense, Diplomacy and (for you it would be at State level) Education. Free healthcare can be provisioned under the Social Insurance Scheme (to people who partake in it) because the Scheme itself would be able to negotiate better rates, etc with private healthcare providers.

As you can see Iv clearly a non-partisan viewpoint that would benefit all except the lazy, so PLEASE stop painting me as being either a Democratic Supporter or a Republican Supporter? I'm a "let's fix the broken system" supporter

America was a grand experiment. It was meant to get away from the tyranny and autocrats of Europe, where rule was imposed by imperialists and powerful, elite families. That is why this country is such an amalgam of people from all over the world, same with Canada, except Canada still has a Governor General (part of the British Crown). In America, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was a new idea and it quickly spread. Homesteaders built this country, just as the farmers and the railroads. However, in recent years and decades, these "United States" quickly saw their governing region taken over by the Federal Government in all things. And big corporations are making up all the rules to suit their needs, the profits and the shareholders. Laws protecting mom and pop no longer matter when it comes to the bottom line. America is still an experiment and needs to be tweaked now and then to get it right. But this can't happen when there's this heavy hand of government and corporation preventing that. Otherwise, the lid will blow and there will be a revolution. Don't think it can't happen. History will show us that revolutions breed because of stagnant leadership. As well, when there's no confidence the government always uses force to quash uprisings, just like they're doing over in Syria and Egypt and Libya. If you don't think that can't happen here, think again.

Although BIG govt is a problem, it is simply the effect (a stepchild if you will) of a much larger malignancy. Remove the cause and Big govt goes away (the money people behind it will be in jail). i was punished every day in grade school when i refused to pledge allegiance due to the 'under god' part being in there.

i could go on and on about ways people other than myself have faced "persecution" due to the pervasive influence of religion on society.
