Rick Santorum says the darndest things. In order for Puerto Rico to become a state, he wants legislation deeming English as the official language on the island... What is this obsession from the Neo-Cons about everyone speaking English? Is it just another way of saying that Americans are too lazy to learn another language? Every country I have been to, the nationals generally speak multiple languages, except in America. I blame this type of mentality that English is the "language of Prosperity". It just another was of saying, "we think were better than you".

Everyone that wants to live in America should speak english! I am married to a beaner and I know Spanish but I wouldn't expect to speak Spanish to someone in America! But for Puerto Rico to have to learn it to be a state is fucking retarded! But I expect nothing less from Santorum!

I too have been to alot of different countries. They speak it for the most part to do buisness with Americans. I was in the Navy so they all wanted to sell us shit so they learned to barter in english.

On the same note, if I were moving to a different country I would learn the language! It is just simple respect for their country and the people!
