I'm going to go to meet and listen to the Jahovas whittnesses tomorrow, they invited me to some thing for easter, i'm kind of excited, I hope they like me, I don't know much about them but I respect them for comming to my door and inviting me, They dress nice and I don't have good clothes so I hope they still will want me.

I'm sure they are nice people. a bit preachy for my liking. Are you seriously going to go to their Easter seminar?

I'm going to go, why not, they invited me, I hope their is food because I don't have any right now but they didn't mention any food, I figure I will go either way since they were nice enough to invite me, they don't say easter they say it's to "commemorate Jesus' death" I figure I can at least go and say hi and see what their talking about and see if they seem to like me- I don't have any other plans, I will let everyone know how it goes.
I tried to go to another church awhile ago but they didn't seem to want me so I didn't keep going, I hope this goes better

Not a usual poster but just a heads up to why they invited you;
Either they pay a certain % of their salary to the church or they recruit 10 people, most recruit 10 people.
But what bothers me is when they bring their kids to your door and make you have pity for them just because.

I don't get it, they all seem to be doing alright, If they accept me will they help me to be able to afford nice clothes and find me a wife? They all seem to be married, and have nice clothes and be well fed, I want to be like that, they do seem a little serious though which makes me wonder if their really happy, I figure I will just go and see what they have to say and see what everyones doing

I was thinking about trying out the Mormons but for some reason they don't want me, when they come around they skip me, I've even tried to lurk around when their going to doors and I said hi and they said hi but they never try to talk to me

In my experience they are the telemarketer version of evangelists....
I just find too many of their beliefs incompatible with mine.

I knew some dude out in Chicago who was just a normal regular guy. Drank beer, worked at FedEx, loved his BBQ and his Bears. Dude was a Jehovah's Witness. I learned that they don't celebrate any kind of holidays or birthdays, nothing. Nice people but I felt bad for his kids. Must be a real drag watching all the other kids having fun during Halloween, Christmas and not getting anything for their birthdays. Religion is wack.

My church used to do prayer and fasting ever last Friday of the month. No food til 6 pm, thinking about important things, then going to a friend's house for bible study then we pigged out. Macaroni cheese, chicken, curry, dal, rice, chow mein, pizza...

I don't really get Jehovah's Witnesses. They seem alright but don't really talk to them much. Our beliefs are different.

Once some of these folks came to my door, I invited them in for a talk about philosophy and religion, and I listened to what they had to say. But in reality, when I brought up the idea that, we are all gods children, and the biggest thing dividing the world and causing all the problems, is organized religion. The response that I saw on their faces was like, they had never even thought about that idea, or heard it, and I felt like I was blowing their minds in a way, I kept talking about how love and god is one, and humans are all one, and what we need is to unite over our humanness, etc. Just basic "psychedelic mushrooms 101" in my book.

In the end, I seemed to make some solid arguments, and they were on their way, but after they left, I felt like, maybe I did some good.

Interesting afternoon, to say the least.
