The story of Noahs flood is also nearly word for word as one from (I think) Mesapotamia. It predates Noah by at least 1500 yrs. (again, I think)Didn't someone just post this lame video in another thread here recently? It's a good thing that jesus did not come to bring another religion, because christianity is just a water-downed version of dozens of Mediterranean religions of the time. I'm sure jesus could have tried harder. Also, jesus' story is almost an exact copy of the Egyptian myth of Horus which preceded christianity by millennia. I don't think we need jesus or christianity. Reality, science and rationality will do just fine...
Jesus did not come to start a new religion.

Jesus told everyone he met that he was salvation born of divinity and bluntly states that we should love him above all others, including our families. If we don't worship Christ we can't get into heaven, also known as Christianity. What better word is there to describe this other than religion?
Oh cmon. We dont know what Jesus said or didnt say. All we have are some red words in a book that werent penned until at least 40 years after his death. The canonized gospels werent even written by those creditted, with the exception being, maybe Luke. Face it. These guys were old. Their memories werent what they used to be, thus the conflicting details from version to version. Does anyone really believe word for word quotes were coming from these weary minds that long after the fact? Even the general gist of what was being said, by then, would have been slanted. These guys rarely if ever got anything right when Jesus was with them. That is made mention of more than once by they themselves. If you want to go by the red words try the ones that talk about the spirit being the teacher. Not the book being the teacher. If the intention was to teach people down thru the ages with a textbook, scribes would have been chosen as followers. The closest thing Jesus had to a scribe as part of his inner sanctum would have been Luke and there is not one mention of him "taking notes" on any occasion. Even by him. the bottom line is that we dont know what was actually said and what was embellished, if not outright fabricated.Jesus told everyone he met that he was salvation born of divinity and bluntly states that we should love him above all others, including our families. My response was to the video, which claims that although Jesus and religion are separate, the bible is still valid. This seems to be a contradictory statement when you consider what the bible tells us about Jesus.Oh cmon. We dont know what Jesus said or didnt say. "Jebus" was in fact quite real. Mention of him is made by the Jewish historian Josephus as well as the Roman procurator/governor of Judea, Pontious Pilate, in official Roman records. Cant disagree with your post with one exception. Im thinkin a early 1970s model psychadelicly painted school bus. He and Woody Harrelson would be tight. If Jebus were real he'd be a very cool hippie, tripping on all things green, hanging out with the other hippies, eating muffins, protesting, he'd own a VW bus of course, and he'd play the guitar.
Its kewl. I gotcha. My post wasnt intended to be disrespectful. I sicerely hope no offense was taken. If so, please accept my apology. My response was to the video, which claims that although Jesus and religion are separate, the bible is still valid. This seems to be a contradictory statement when you consider what the bible tells us about Jesus. If your position is that the bible probably doesn't well reflect what Jesus actually told people, then we are in agreement, yet that seems tangential to my point.
No worries, my skin is pretty thick. The nature of forums makes it somewhat easy to misspeak or to be misunderstood. I always keep that in mind. You have a good point, just misdirected I think. Its kewl. I gotcha. My post wasnt intended to be disrespectful. I sicerely hope no offense was taken. If so, please accept my apology.
Yeah. My mobile feed sucks. I didnt even see a link for a vid let alone have an option to view it. Something I personally consider to be a huge pain in the ass is not having the option to offer reps. Ive recieved a good deal of help on RIU and juss plain good advice and cant even offer someone rep for it. It makes me feel like Im being rude. Fortunately those who have offered the most help on a continuing basis are obviously not rep whores in it for status. Which really kinda sucks cuzz theyre the ones Id like to rep the most.No worries, my skin is pretty thick. The nature of forums makes is somewhat easy to misspeak or to be misunderstood. hehehehe, sorry buddy, i had to......first is religion (uniting opposites of mind), then is Christ (Christ Consciousness).
"when you make the inside like the outside" "if thine eye be single" ...and the examples go on and on (into infinity )
