bho concentrate tips?

Just like anything on this forum, there is a lot of info about making concentrates both here and everywhere else on the internet. I'm 5 runs in (small 7-8 g extraction tubes) and I believe the quality of my oil has been increasing. what I'm really concerned with is talking to people who have real experience. Whats you "secrets" (well... you dont have to give me the super secrets, those are yours... jsut point me in the right direction )?

Current setup is:

Vector going through A

7-8 gram stainless turkey baster, going into a

pyrex dish, going into a

oven preheated to 150 for 10 minutes, then treated with a

butane torch for popping bubbles

back into the 150 oven for 10 minutes

Scraped, put on wax paper, put the piece of paper in a bowl on top of a candlewarmer

where I continue to pop the bubbles with a torch or let them naturally vape.

I've experimented with warming my vector in a hotwater bath. Now, I FEEL like this increased my yield numbers from about 14% to 16%, but this could have been a quality issue. What you guys think of my ghetto tek? how can I start adapting to prepare myself for larger runs? what steps would you keep, which would you throw out, and what do you think is imperitive I add to the process?

spray your butane/oil mix directly into a bowl with warm water (after filtering out plant material). the warm water will make the butane evaporate quickly, and the floating oil can be scooped up with a razor, spoon, etc...much easier than scraping

LOL then ur oil is gonna be saturated with water and crackle and pop like its unpurged

the only real way to improve ur BHO runs IMO is to use better starting product

LOL no it doesnt. It CAN't get saturated with water because it's oil, and oil is hydrophobic (repels water), which is why it FLOATS. It would only crackle if you try to smoke it the first day you make it (and its STILL very smokable). Next day it's perfectly fine. Besides, it's healthier smoking water vapor than butane vapor...This wasn't a way to get BETTER product, it's just an easier way of purging and collecting the oil.

What happens when butane vaporizes? Oh yeah, carbon dioxide, monoxide, and water are created. So no the water is not healthier. Sorry but purging directly into water is most definitely a harder way to purge as you have to let the water evaporate which takes forever. Now maybe if you did a run into 99% iso, or hexane...then we'd be on the right track.

cmon guys, no fighting. I'm asking for you're first hand experience. Pics are appreciated! Lab test are a long shot, but if you got em, post em! I'm pulling 16-18% yeilds, which is pretty good in my book, but I KNOW there are people out there doing it better, safer, and purer, even with simple tools (no tamisiums required).

Hot gas is for closed system not open blasting. It has to do with pressure of closed systems.
Freezing tubes is good. You are correct that keeping the gas in liquid form is the goal.

Beyond being able to recover the gas, there is saving space in landfills and saving money. With a closed system (your unit is simply a pro blast tube) there is no pool of fumes to stand in. Off gas is controlled and directed away. Der, thats the point of a sealed unit, not just recapture.
Reduce exposure to gases and risk of fire/explosion to almost zero. Those tane fumes might be messing with your emotions, so defensive lol... miyagi do you even know about dewaxing? aka wax off?

yeah, get a sealed unit so you don't blow up. if you can't afford it then don't blast cans of lighter fluid. there are many ways to make concentrates without the risk of explosion.

dude, honestly, I wouldnt blast, more than a 1/3 of a can of butane in an unenclosed system. I've watched a good friend pop a single bubble that was about the size of a silver dollar with a handheld torch, set the whole table on fire. Outdoors. 3 cans? I cant imagine the damage that would do in a 10 foot radius. Even if I was doing a single can I'd want a closed system. I didnt start this thread to bash oil, or bubble, or any other fucking type of concentrate. I ASKED how I could improve upon the basics of blasting through a tube.... for runs LESS than a half oz.

I'm building a vac purge with a water aspirator and pint mason jar, which I'll be covering in epoxy, and then clear tape (in the event it implodes, I'm trying to contain flying glass shards). The entire device will be put under a 3/8 inch thick lexan sheild. Hopefully this will be a half decent vac purge... looking to improve upon taste, and cut down on the amount of butane I'm vaping into my face.

And yes, for your micro runs, cold gas, cold plant matter, control your purge, its not that complicated. Or just kif everything and blast the kif with a little bud...

Miyagi style, because you obviously do not know mr miyagi#2, is dewaxing using pure ethanol and cold filtering. its really not complicated. de-wax, aka wax off, removing the waxes from lighter fluid extract via dissolution and cold filtering is going to become wide spread in 2012. you are welcome, can't believe I had to explain that tho, its seems very obvious. the plant waxes precipitate out of solution as it cools, then you filter it, this is old school man!
