Perhaps, if the charity got government funding I will have to agree. If it does not, will you agree that we subsidize his giving? In other words, if Romney gave that money to the morman church, and the Government does not give any money to that church, we are subsidizing his offering.

If you are in the mindset that all money belongs to the government first and they let us keep what they feel is fair, then I see where you are coming from. I disagree with this line of thought though.

NO!! he sued boeing, for bringing 1000 new jobs to s carolina! and one other state.....(not union). said no to using our own oil (drilling bad. and birds may get lil wings dirty!) no to natural gas, (while clean, its "possible" something could rupture a water vein??) no to LITHUM, after all, while its used in the new green mobile autos, well, there are some risks...so no to those jobs, as well). now, he wants to add even higher regulations, (more goverment, more taxs. more fees.) to scare what jobs are left here, overseas. nice. and, a few months ago. yes, a few months. he sent a huge pile of money to finland, to bail out a unionized auto company there. all the while, our daily debt goes up...to force us to pay for his joke of a healthcare reform, takeing over 700 billion out of medicare, for start up costs, and then telling us that romney is going to gut medicare. lol!!!! the liberals allways make it a point to blame the other side for what they are doing! yes, lots of jobs not listed, are still due to be axed, do to his increasing industry standards, so eventuraly, only one gnat fart a day will be allowed to escape a smoke stack. no joke. and this costs millions. we all want clean. and the truth is, we have been clean for many years. they just dont ever want to stop increasing the regulations, which companys cant afford. he has also recently told companys, that "if you hire, we are going to tax ya!! " so., i have asked so many supporters of his, "BASED ON WHAT ACCOMPISHMENTS", should he be kept? one answser. to do as he says he wants to do! "to finish the job he started". wow. no more america. and, they think illegals have more right to vote, than the military troops!!! hey. if i need a id to buy a beer, cash a check, use a credit card, board a plane, thats fine. but to insist we make sure only u.s citizens vote, well, thats RACIST. when the kennedys were killed, i beleive this is when our "democrates" were slowly replaced, with "socialists". and they did it like the frog in water that is warmed slowwwwwly....they sit in it till they cook. and why does the media allways say such filthy things about the conservatives? calleing the gals names. horrible. if we cant see how the mainsteam media is all on the lefts side. well, maybe we deserve to see our nation die. and its all because some of us feel "GUILTY" for being the best nation. why? im not. his wife will probably say that she is going back to not being proud to be an american, just as she stated that "only after barrack became the nominee, did i feel proud to be an american". now, a picture of her naked, wraped in the american flag! Why do you start with the assumption that the nation's debts are not the people's debts? We were on our way to paying down those debts - many of which were, like it or not, legitimate until Bush claimed that the money was "the people's" and should remain the people's, oh never mind this pesky old debt, don't pay it any mind, here is your money back.

The debt keeps growing due to the deficit. This year it will be over a trillion dollars, next year the same under Obama.

You dont say you are paying down your credit card when you send in 30 bucks but charge another 2000.

The government is overspending and wasting tons of money. The politicians dont want to make the hard choices so they tell you the rich are not paying their fair share and if we get a couple hundred billion dollars off those leaches the 1+ trillion dollar deficit will just go away...

As for the thread subject. Bush had 3 unfunded wars, TARP, auto bailouts and his own idiotic stimulus spending. Obama has increased the debt left by quite possibly the worst fiscal president of our time. The argument from the left is that Obama hasn't increased it as much when calculated as a percentage. You guys are using Bush as your baseline, that's gross.

If I give 100 dollars to a non-federaly subsidized charity and in so doing I pay less to the federal government then others have to pick up the slack for the money I didn't send to the IRS. IF the debt cannot be paid down by that increment then we all pay for that charity.

You are missing the point. I agree that people create success, however, what was stated was that Romney "fixed" the olympics. He did that by getting gobs of money from the Federal Government. I am simply and effectively pointing out that he has donated millions of dollars directly (including his entire father's inheritance to charity) and indirectly by going and saving the Olympics rather than sit back and collect his salary at Bain. The Olympics do not belong to one man, they were in trouble because of mismanagement. He went in and fixed it for all Americans.

No, our money is our money individualy but as I said, we have a mutual debt, one that all of us has to pay down, if you give less money toward that debt because the government gives you special dispensation for contributing to a charity, then we all, in effect are contributing to your charity.
