Do unsprouted seeds need light

ok i germanated my seeds for about 2 days in damp paper towel and they sprouted out roots that are about an inch long or more. i then planted them into soil today and i was wondering if they needed to be in the light for the seed to sprout out of the soil?

i would. they reach for the light. if it were outside in the dirt would the sun be just above the dirt? keep growing

They do best with indirect light until they shed their helmets. The problem with putting them under direct light is that they might dry out before they get their roots out. Wait until they shed their helmets before you give them direct light.

I agree with Puff. Keep em in a warm, somewhat dark environment.... preferably with a humidity tent over them until they break the surface. :)
