Glad the 4Health from TSC is also a very good choice, it's a 4 star food. Ole Roy would be like .05 stars.

The first ingredient on the bag is the highest content. Look for a meat product. Don't buy anything with corn in it.

TotW and Blue Buffalo are both top foods, I wouldn't say one is better than the other. My dogs love TotW venison/Bison...

If u can find 'national' food you and you pooch will be freaky happy.

Pro food. Coon hunters to Shitzen. Never found it in a store,but with the hassle. Two cups, for active GSD's. Never saw healthier. Turds the size of a tootise roll ;)~

These national dog foods sound familiar. I think my uncle who is a known coon hunter uses these brands he has many plaques of wins but not so many he is not himself. I like a good coon hunt.

My pooch gets wellness...it's a bit pricey but I love my dog more than I like most people :)

Nutro is another good food that's reasonably priced

I buy the chicken leg quarters in 10 pound bags. Small pups can eat wings, backs, necks. Larger pups leg quarters no problem. They eat the bone and raw meat. Just pull it out of the fridge and give it to him cold.

If you tried this with the older GSD, I guarantee you'll be surprised at how he looks and smells different in just a few weeks.

You give a diverse protein base. Like raw eggs, organ meat is really awesome. Tripe is considered to have amazing properties. Whatever is available. Veggie scraps also.

Keep in mind dogs and all their relatives eat this way in the wild every day for millions of years. Wolves, fox, coyote, dingo. All cats, all bear, etc. Carnivores eat bones.

It's the cooked bone that kills, as well as dried bones. Raw fresh bones are eaten like pretzels.

w/ Homeless on precaution regarding chicken bones. know of an accident involving 'cooked' chicken bones. raw must be much much safer, but still any finer bones seems risky,

Before I bought my last dog I started reading about dog diets. What I found when talking to really serious dog people, with small fortunes invested in dogs and training, a surprisingly large percentage fed raw. The more I read, the more sense it made.

Again, I never ever saw a blender in a den of wolves.

that fat fuck has probably ate 3 lbs of raw chicken already including gizzards..they did not know what to do with the bone and played with it for a few until their dad snatched it...it is a pain unless you buy a chest freezer and buy large amounts at wholesale price. raw bones of any kind are fine..the cooked ones are weak and can splinter and damage the intestine wall...I have seen my dogs eat the giant turkey legs WHOLE the ones that look like a slightly smaller bowling pin .. i like to give 10-15% bone 65-75 % meat 10 15 % organ meat...like kidney/liver / gizzards...4 lbs a day is plenty for a 120 lb dog that stays active...a dog his size only needs 1-1.5 lbs a day

Pretty sure he will be eating raw chicken. I have a chest freezer.
Wasn't sure if I needed to try to bust it up, or just hand it to him like a pizza slice. lol.
Now I need to buy chickens that are trained. Every few days I'll have a chicken try to break in.
Chicago will get used to eating anything that tries to break in. Brilliant!!

Anyone have any trained chickens? I'll take real good care of them. j/k

I buy 10 pound bags and freeze 1/2. The other 1/2 is in the fridge. Sometimes I buy two 10 pound bags, but I freeze them in 5 pound gallon (freezer) ziplocks.

Look at organ meat also. Mixed protein base. If you stay true to the raw, you will see a difference. I give you a lot of props for considering or trying this.

may want to hold off on getting him fixed...if he stays like that, I know several breeders who would Really want him to stud to their bitch.
