Bad idea. Terrible idea. The buds grow based on the energy stored in the fan leaves. The buds need light but the plant itself needs the fan leaves for proper photosynthesis to occur. Your plant and your buds will most likely survive but you just added a month to your flowering time. Very shitty for you in the future ask before you do these kind of things.

On the note of trimming sometimes you do have too many fan leaves and they block your lower buds from getting any light and htey will be unable to thrive.
The best option that I have found is cutting those fan leaves in half. It does minimal damage to the plant and through crafty trimming you can open some nice light holes and increase your lower "popcorn nug" yield. You never want to cut more than 1/4 of the leaves on the plant and should go a minimum of two weeks between trim jobs. The lighter the trim the better I can usually get away with 4-5 cuts per plant a montha nd get my desired light penetration levels.

never do that man, if your ever gonna flower again leave every leaf on when you flower and don't take nothing off the plants unless the leafs are dead because
1 - the plant needs the leafs for energy when you start doing a flush
2 - you'll have more leafs at the end that you can save to make shake, pure THC Hash, oil, Honey oil, oil or honey oil with the hash

If you can, I suggest clubbing your friend. Tie hime up good and tight. Leave him near the opening of a bear's cave.
Also, try and add a little light more light to help your plants compensate for the loss of leaves.

One word- retard i 4 year old wouldn't do that, leaves are for photosynthesis which makes the plants grow pretty much. good luck and tell your friend he is a dumbass.

opps i figured the little leaves would have been enough. i guess i wont do that next time. i should have asked first. i got 10 more ready for when these are done this was my first time growing. so i will deff learn from the mistake.
that's good, try to leave as many leafs as you can on the plants so when you flower them you have more leafs when you harvest that you can make has and oils with

at least you got something out of it, and will learn from. big peice of advice never, ever do something friends tell you before researching it first.
if you do trim the fan leaves never trim more than a third of them at a time. most people will trim the bottom ones to get better circulation to the bottom of the plant and prevent mold
