250w HPS Ventilation

Hello guys,
Im thinking about buying a 250w HPS, do you think i could vent it with circulation fans ? I will be growing inside a closet that i can't cut any holes on it.
But if venting a 250 HPS without inline fan isnt possible ill just buy a DR60 grow tent and CFLs for veg.

I am on a small budget and i can't buy the whole set up in one go,so ill be buying some parts now and some parts next month.

the possibilities are :

1)Grow in closet without Grow tent, buy 250w HPS and circulation fans, and buy inline fan, grow tent and carbon filter next month

2)Grow in Grow tent inside the closet, buy CFLs for veg and DR60 and buy 250w HPS for flowering, inline fan and carbon filter next month.

What do you think i should do?

Sorry if it doesnt make any sense guys im pretty stoned :/

Thanks!

if you dont have access to fresh co2 and have a way to extract moist air your plants will never meat there full potential

A 250 should be ideal in that space a 400w would be way overkill in a 2x2 room

yes option 2 or drill the wardrobe

temps might be ok with a 250w with the right extraction if going with an aircooled hood cool tubes are pretty poor

cooltubes are not "poor" lol but yes cooled hood's are better but more expensive. A cooltube is preatty cheap + the area he has to fill is small so the light losed because of the cooltube is nothing compared to how much closer to the bud he can place his lights. getting your lights closer is ofc what you want. losing a small amout of light in order to get your lights 3-10x closer to your buds is 100% worth it. Basically every time you double the distance from the light you quarter the strength of the light.

answer your qustion yes they are poor as there light foot print is bad i bought an aircooled hood which was only slightly more expensive.
Also aircooled hood the glass cuts out uvb making MH a poor choice and ive noticed lower yield with the glass on with hps
commercial growers have said the same on youtube

I cant tell if you if it will get hot it depends on your ambient and extraction but id run it without on first and monitor it

4 weeks veg 8 weeks flower 3g 4 plants max 1 per sqft sea of green i would use. You might getaway with 2-3g and 3 weeks veg if using 4 plants or just 1x very large plant in a 4g but it may require training and more veg time.

You need extraction from the growing area for both temp control and co2 exchange. I run a 6" 425 cfm inline with my 250w and pull a minimum 6 oz from a single plant. Scrog + hydro.
Oh, and contrary to popular belief, MH lights don't put out UV. The bulbs glass is made from quartz glass to filter it.

its what ed rosenthal said in his new book regarding air-cooled fixtures
regardless my own experience still backs up growth is effected also a 6" in 2x2 room is way over kill you should still be able to turn over 100% of the room in 1 min with a good high pressure 4" prob allot less than that if you work out the cubic foot of the room

i gues it depends on how good your ventilation is. but with only 1 fan pushing out air it probably would get preatty hot or you would have to have your light preatty far of. i have a DS60 and if i ran a hid light in there with bad ventilation i think it would get preatty hot.. but i never ran any hid under 400w so i dont really know since i only used cfl in my ds60.

Not in my case. First, the cupboard is 4x2, it's just that only 2x2 is given to the weed. Second, it's in the loft and in summer, i need as much fresh air as I can get.

ok well im a closet 250w grower and im telling you you will need extraction, i use 2 120mm pc fans. my temps in summer are 28.7c avg and winter they are sitting at 22.9c everyday.

i also have a 9" desk fan blowing on the light. that has actually helped so much i can touch my lumii mini reflector when the light has been on for 12 hours without it even warming my hand. i am still in my first year of growing so i cant claim to know too much but from what ive read its not great to use any glass covered hood or tubes as they block out necessary lumens and thats not wise with a 250w. i keep my light 4-6" from the tops as well

works brilliantly. i have the light at an average height most of the grow so i positioned the fans about mid way up my wardrobe wall and cut a large rectangular hole and strapped the 2 fans on. i have a vent cover on the other side. it was a bit easier for me as that leads into another wardrobe. cant you even cut a hole in the rear in a corner? if not get a tent so you have room for a decent fan.
