Does anyone have any info on Hydro Grow LED's? The website advertises that they have to most potent LED grow lights and are unbeaten in grow tests against competitors' LED's. So far the best light discussed on this forum sounds like the Solar Storm...
mjames, be careful of how the manufacturers advertise, they will try to trick you into thinking that their light is the only one that can achieve great results. Hydro grow is an awesome company, and yes they have an awesome product, but they are not the only ones out there that can acheive awesome results. When a company tries to tell you that they are the #1 producing LED, they are usually trying to divert you away from looking into other results from other companies. I have taken a real liking to california light works, they are a real down to earth company and they basically say to let their light speak for itself without boasting that they are #1. Good luck out there!

Thank you. This type of info is invaluable, and is why I joined this forum. By the time I'm licensed and ready to set up my grow room, I'll have a lot of great info to jump in and get started. Kind of fighting the wife on the whole deal, but I've remained adamant. I've lost over eighty pounds this past year from nausea. I've had two surgeries, and take meds to help now, but my best medicine is weed, plain and simple. I started using it again this year because of the nausea, and...well here I am, and I'm glad to be among like-minded people.

mjames, I suggest the strain (Tutankhamon) for nausea. I have had that strain in my lineup for a while now because how my patients responded to its effects, very high on the nausea relief. Tutankhamon is from Pyramid seeds and you can find it at quite a few of the seed banks. If you do go with this strain then I suggest you grow it using the LST method, it absolutely thrives under this type of training.

As for this, my wife was originally not the happiest about me growing, but she soon got over it and now wants me to sign her up as my caregiver.

There are tons of mj strains good for nausea :) Some better than others, but it's a common trait for a lot of cannabis strains.

I just started using Advancedled 740 extreme flower. It is supporting quite a few legally grown plants. A couple things. 1st and foremost the initial expense , obviously out of this world compared to HID's but if your serious about your grows and watch your costs you will see that those initial costs come back to you . In energy and in bud. I am not a sold believer that HID's always get bigger yields. One thing I have noticed with this light is that I my veg cycle runs a bit longer , I am deciding that I will let the girls go much longer in Veg with these lights than i normally would. That could be because of the fact that the lights spectrum is specifically designed for flowering. I will be adding advanced 800diamond series eventually. I believe the flowering cycle will be cut down actually especially with flower 740's and I expect big #s. I will keep you updated on this and do my best to pass along any knowledge that i learn.Oh and make sure your LED's are AMerican made and not from China...Big difference. Research your company a lot will say they are american made but they are just a american company selling chinese made LED"s

Awesome, I haven't seen anyone using the 740, saw an older journal using a couple 360s that kicked ass. The 740 + 800ds sounds like a beasty combination. I had the 180 extreme, currently have their.200w ds and xml150. Good luck, should start a thread journal so we can follow along in your journey. And welcome to the forum.

I know that there is a lot of technology differences and wavelength variables and whatnot, but just wanted to post some pics to show that you can be a complete noob and still grow great plants under even shitty LEDs. I am definitely looking to tweak and add to my set up in the coming months - bigger tent, full spectrum panel with latest LEDs, etc - but these are at day 46 of 12/12 under fairly low-end LEDs and they look great. Could they be bigger under HPS? I don't know, this is my 3rd grow so far and I started with LEDs and have zero experience with HID lighting. I am sure the answer is yes (judging by discussion raging all over the different sites), but you also have deal with all the issues that go with growing under that type of lighting. I have a tiny little tent, a 90w UFO with 2w LEDs, and a 135w Blackstar UFO with 3w LEDs. Nothing special, didn't shell out $1200 on a light (that I am sure would yield much better results), but it works for sure. And to me this stuff looks killer. Just my 2 cents. I am sure that there is a lot I am doing wrong (and constructive criticism is always appreciated), but I am really impressed at what you can do with LEDs with only the most basic setup and knowledge. No heat issues, plants have grown up all the way to the light and not been burned in the slightest, much lower energy consumption (green is what we are about right?) and you can be practically brain dead and operate them perfectly. I do not regret in the least jumping into this right away with LED.

Hey guys has anyone heard anything about the HTG 7 band UFO 240?? I have a BS 240 and am currently looking for another for my 4x2 space. Seen on eBay that HTG claims it out does the BS 240 and I think they're very close in price. Any thoughts?? And Duubical strong work!!

I dunno if it outdoes the BS or not, but every LED maker claims they're better than the others, so i wouldn't put much in that ;)

Senseimilla, California Light Works doesn't make any claims that they are better than everyone else, and I must say that they have an amazing product. Go take a look at their website, you won't find anything but info on their light, no company bashing just information. All lights will grow plants, but not all lights grow plants well.

Sounds good!! I would like to add www.rhinogrow.com to the list of American made LED companies...excellent point on the Chinese made-american made ones...lots of LEDs out there that buy the fixture and change the housing to their own, be careful and do your homework peeps!! LAtro
Great addition, although the price has held me back from one... I'd love to see one of those rhinos in action.

I calculate (roughly) about 138W of actual LED power from the Rhino, based upon their claimed 172W of total power draw (total power minus power supply inefficiencies). So they are running their 3W Osram LED's at about 2W each. For $799.-, this is about $5.78/ Watt, this is a pretty spendy light.

Also- it will be very difficult to maintain the junction temperatures of the LED's cool enough to get thier claimed 80,000 hour working life wiith out a fan- this is a very dubious claim. I have tested many, many 100W+ LED light fixtures on big chunks of aluminum, without fans- things get hot!!! Things get hot, LED lifetimes come down- rapidly. 25 - 30,000 hours is probably a more realistic lifetime claim- I think they pulled the 80,000 hour lifetime number out of their a$$.

Not a big fan of the look of Rhinogrow. Looks a bit like a homemade garage version.. Could be wrong. I agree about the heat Astroastro. Not sure if the heatsinks will cut it, . I am running the 740 extreme flower and will be adding a 160 blueveg , all from Advancedled. The 740 is a big boy and i promise you ( although I am running exhaust and fans) my room would not get over 85 degrees(i experimented). They run cool and smooth and are very powerful. Could not be happier with that company and my results . I will post some shots so you see what i mean.

I am an avid LED user and am starting my own thread of results. That said, I just wanna thank the starter of this Thread. LED's are the future and the now. I am having unreal results!! Everything is positive . Bills, Yield, Etc.Etc. I will NEVER go BACK EVER. WHY? These lights are the future.. They zone in on specific spectrums necessary for Veg/flower, they dont put off as much as heat, and they yield more .AMEN
