holy sheep shit....that luxor cost just as much to ship to my state as it does to purchase the hood itself.....hahahha crazy

$531 to my door for just the hood.,.... a 4 ft parbolic cost $45 plus the socket/cord $25...$70
that is nuts...as my 2 piece minisplit ac ltl freight from MI to NM was only $80!1 Shop aroung and hell you may find a hydro shop who has it or can get ti with no shipping charge...I know the parabolics are an option but so many complain about them and this luxor is being pumped with data as to its efficiency

Help me out with something- How can a vertically oriented lamp compare to the same lamp oriented sideways? Sideways seems like more direct radiation considering it's a long ass lamp. Isn't the end of a lamp more dead? This would be different if I was doing a vert grow, but I'm not.

NOT MY KNOWLEDGE NOR OPINION

From what I have read the limited amount of bounces of the reflected light is supposed to give it the most light output in the most even spread...use IMO is the only way to KNOW

Thanks Kite. If both the horizontal and vertical lamps had the same reflector, I gotta believe that a horizontal lamp would supply more direct radiation below. Intuitively, I say that.

been running Interlux bulb$40 shipped or $35 out the door for me. I Also run Hurtilux 600w, 1000w and have to say i'm happy with both? But will just go with interlux next bulb chang. I also run the bulbs with mag and digital . With zero problems.

I just became aware that there are three types of CMH. Maybe more. The Agrow lamp has less blue which might cut down on the flarfy bud many people comment on. So does the 930. The bluest seems to be the standard retro-white CMH.

I always wondered what would be best bulb to use and I'm ad I found this thread. I'm definitely getting this Ushio bulb for my digital ballast. I'm finding them for $56 for a 600 HPS shipped. Not sure why you guys would spend 90+ on a bulb unless your running 1k watts. I see great results with my Ipower setup I bough for less then $300. This thing so far works awesome! Doesn't have much of any blue spectrum the yellow is the highest followed by the reds. Runs at 2100K but even tho none of these blues and other colors it is producing AMAZING frost on my WW I'm cometely satisfied with what I see. I'm itching to add this Ushio to cart tho lol. I'm gonna have to and next run I'll see if it makes any difference. I hope it does but for $56 who cares if nothing changes at least I have a durable bulb on stand by for when Ipower shits to bed lol. According to the box Ipower pushes 85k lumen. Works for now I'll post something later on if Ushio brings better buds.

my retro 400's do NOT make leafy or fluffy buds...that is because of other factors not the light source...look at the charts...even though more blue is also LOTS more red than hps

I hear you. I've just been polling some CMH users and that has come up from a few of them. I like the red from the 930 and Agro. I'm also looking at Plasma+HPS

Plasma? Sulfur plasma? Surely not those glorified electrode less fluorescents? And if sulfur plasma why bother with hps?

Metal halide and argon I think. I'm just exploring what others are doing at the moment. All of these options have really excellent spectrums.

I gather (but am still reading) that with the combo of HPS and plasma you get the spectrum and the penetration. Low cost of HPS lamp and the plasma has like 30,000 hour lifespan or some such. Have considered having the two systems on a light mover to really blend the outputs.

Again, I'm just reading at the moment. Learning.
