I'm thinking of going with a lumatek with an adjust-a-wing reflector for my next light. I'm pretty sure on the reflector I want but I'm not too sure about the ballast I'm thinking lumatek is one of the best but I'm not too sure.

lol just get something with a solid warranty. its all essentially the same thing, just dont opt into a magnetic ballast.

imo, i'd rather get a generic ballast, and save the money for a better bulb because thats where really the performance is at.

ya I noticed that with the bulbs I just got cheap digital ballasts and I had a lumatek hps bulb and a cheapo that came with it side by side and hands down the lumatek bulb throws more light you don't even need a light meter to tell the difference.

but off ebay I can get a 600w lumatek ballast and adjust-a-wing reflector for a little over $300 so it won't really cost much more to get one of the best light set ups. from what I hear the adjust-a-wing reflector is the best I just can't think of too many companies that are good for digital ballasts but lumatek is cheap enough I don't want to go much cheaper then that.

just get a reliable balllast that you know that will last. i like digital cuz it doesnt get hot and its dimmable.. so lumtek does that. get a horilux bulb hahaha

Solistek has some real nice digital ballasts. If you hook more than two lights up they sense it and won't fire all at the same time and never had probs with them either.

I've had a 400 watt mh magnetic ballast running 24/7 for like two years and its really cheap from htgsupply $120 is all it costed complete with bulb. never used a fan to cool it or nothing but I keep it clean and on cement away from any possible spills.

yeah if i had a cement pad i'd love it blunt, i keep it on a rock maple stand with a small ionic fan keepin it kool. It's usually the summer months were the fan is needed more, lmao first time i got it i had it on a milk crate rofl came back and the fucken milk crate slowly sagging and melting! So blunt lots of rain here dropped a fucken 4 pointer two weeks ago, cant wait to taste that after the hanging time its due for some chili! Fucken a blunt your so close i could prob smell ya lmao!

i recently went with the "galaxy Select-a-watt" it can do mh/hps 400/600/1000 watt or "turbo charge" settings that supposed to give you 1,100 watts out of a 1,000 watt bulb.

and for the bulb, im thinking of going with a "Ushio HiLUX GRO™ SUPER High Pressure Sodium bulb" for flowering.

Jd light is a great ballast. Great customer service to. They come with 110% on the dim, which is nice to use on my last run with the bulb. After a year of use.

I have a friend who works at a hydro shop and they test ballasts with various bulbs and of all the ballasts lumatek with lumatek bulbs had the best results. They did find that other ballasts worked better with hortilux bulbs then lumatek ballasts did but the lumatek with there own bulbs out performed all others. Also dont get the air cooled lumateks they have 3 instead of a 5 year warranty and didn't perform as well as the non air cooled lumateks.

If your like me you'll always question yourself and your lighting if you don't go with your first choice...lumatek. I would also rather buy the NON-air cooled lumatek and add on lumateks external cooling fan-$12.bucks-and the reason is the external fan setup will run cooler then the one with an internal fan. I run 2 lumatek 1000's..yeah I could of gotten something cheaper but I didn't just buy the ballast, I also bought peace of mind with the lumatek. Also do yourself a favor and buy digilux bulbs for your lumatek they're 155,000 lumen's while all the rest are 140 to 150,000 lumen, might as well squeeze every last drop out of the lumatek. Just my .02's worth.
