Hi gang,Im gonna be redoing my room and I am planning on setting up a bank of 6 CFLs per side(26Ws perbulb)and a bank of 4-4'T5s -these are all putting out 6500k.The idea is to surround the plants with light-there will be 6 plants only in the room which is 5X4X7'.I am hoping this will increase my end product-Im growing this time-G13haze.Any suggestions?

5000k bulbs instead. they are essentially the best combo of both the 2700k and 6500k flouros.

suggestion.. quit fucking around and buy a 600 bulb and hood.
Cant do the high watts where I am-the jump in power would get me nailed with the 1st power bill.But thanks for the suggestion.

this is about as uneducated as they come.
you can go led for 1$ per watt. thats not bad if you know what you want and build it yourself.
but you can get many more watts per $ with other methods, making them more cost effcient in long run, because these items are in constant use, everything needs replacement at some point.

If your putting cfl's around her on all sides that already over 600 watts? If your only doing 2 sides thats still 276 watts then add your t-5's your into the watt game for 526 watts. I think it would be wise to re-think, you'll produce way more product with other sources like others have suggested. I truly believe that a 400 watt system would still out perform the set up you decribe. If your truly worried about power then a 400 watt will drop your power bill and produce much better.

this time its easier to disagree, the room he plans to use is very large. really the minimal he needs for the room is a 600w(and that scraping by, a 1000w would really be what the room needs), which in flouro terms wouldn't be very efficient. regardless of their advantages.Madmonk.......you can go with the hid's and all the bulbs where you live with your cfl's........saving electricity
what would be most efficient for his room in this case would be some x2 T5 4bulb fixtures mounted to the walls in combination with a 400w. which is a total of 800w.

.Anything larger than a standard bedroom is large..... mo.It seems a lot of people are like me and use whatever is available and is inexpensive to put together.

I would kind of have to agree that too small for a 1k, mostly because of heat. Too big for a 400 though.

Where I live-the laws are as follow-"Six plants means a mandatory prison term of no less than 3 years."So the OPP do look for small grows especially when you are in a very small town.Thanks for the advice everybody-lots of food for thought.

I have run a dozen 600's for a couple of years now and before that it was eight 1000's. A single 600 or even 1000 will not flag power companies. A good example of power consumption is salt water fish tanks. A decent set will burn 600 watts easily hourly. Tjere are many real reasons to use the power, just need to think out of the box.

well a dozen 600's will definately throw up a red flag. I called the power company to switch to a time of use power plan to save some cash and the guy on the phone said "WOW, your power usage is off the charts, we should have your meter checked". I simple had to tell him, "yeah, I know its high, I have two kilns that I have been running in the basement. I have been selling quite a bit of pottery lately."
