I reuse my coco for about a year. When I get too many roots left in and can't get the ph down enough treating it I throw it away.

Are you adding a Cal/Mg suppliment? If not you should be, me thinks your blue lab is broke if it says your tap water is 0 and you live in a big city. I am in a big city and my tap is 1.0EC. I HAVE to use RO water because of this, and even after double filter and RO it is still about 18PPM, not zero.

Hey all. I'm now 8 weeks flowering on my first Coco grow, Canna nutrients. Here are 3 pics. First pic is lights off, second lights on (duh) third one of my main cola's. gonna start flush next week just useing zym, budswel and bud-xl. gonna double the zym as per azcannaman because gonna re-use the Coco. Trichs are cloudy but no amber yet. i think week, week and a half till chop. Let me know what you think:

Nice job micaD! It looks like you've made a very successful transition to coco and Canna nutes. It's only going to get better....believe me. Your timing sounds good to me. I typically don't need a bunch of ambers as others do. Sometimes I think they are a little over-rated.

So question to all coco users. To put perlite in coco or no perlite? What's your take? I personally add perlite, it's works better for me as far as watering goes. I have buddies that like to run it without but they don't like to visit their garden everyday which I think is very important for a healthy garden. So just wondering what others think?...

Idk about perlite but agree 1000% that you only get out what you put in. If you put hours of love and work into your garden everyday it will be better.

I use Rhizo all the time, think it's the best root stimulator out there and have frankly lost my fear of using it or even being super careful about measuring it during a grow. Somewhere here on RIU I read that somebody was soaking seeds in it and somebody else was adding it to paper towels when germinating....so I finally gave in and gave it a try. My results were not too awesome....I tried the following experiment;

1 seed soaked in Rhizo water for 24hrs then dropped into paper towels then placed in a rapid rooter.
2 seeds soaked in plain water 24 hours, germed in paper towels then placed in rapid rooter soaked with Rhizo water.
3 seeds stuffed straight into rapid rooter (Subcool method) with plain RO water to moisten.

Results; anything to do with Rhizo during seed pre-soak or rapid rooter pre-soak brought up seedlings fast but either had a problems dropping the seed hull, or a skin from the inside of the hull captivated the cotyledons and and kept them from opening up. All three sprouts with issues showed the same trait with the cotyledons....they remained curled over to one side, unable to spread leaflets and absorb light. They exibit a "reddish" colored band around the stems. The three seeds jammed into plain watered rapid rooters, popped up, spread cotyledons and started looking healthy. I was able to take an exact-o knife and fine tipped tweezers under a scope and surgically remove the "hull liner" that entrapped the sprouts with issues. They are growing but looking a little "stunted". Kind'a looks like the one Rhizo soaked seed popped a tap root during soak faster than ever in my history, but the end result was the same....a membrane from inside the hull couldn't be shed once above ground. Anyhow, whether this was a controlled experiment or not I might just stick with the old "Subcool" germ standard. BTW, not 24 hours after all 6 were up and opened they all got some Rhizo and Canna "Start"...no ill effects there or since then.
