I'm totally new to this whole growing thing, i'm pretty tired of the bunk stuff that other people are selling the lack of sellers around the area so i wanted to grow a few plants for personal use.

i have the perfect grow box solution already in my basement. Its a perfectly white wooden closet that is sectioned into two parts on the inside with two cubby holes each big enough to probably fit a 2 ft plant in and the main section where the shirts and coats hand that can easily fit a 3-4 foot plant possibly two of them.

the only thing is, this thing was meant for clothes and not trees. how would one even go about rigging this bad boy up for growing. its easily light proofed because it was pretty well constructed by the guys who installed it. all it would need is some electric tape and good to go

i'm no wood worker, do i need some kind of saw to cut holes into the wood? how would i go abou installing a light in it? i hear all this stuff about ballast? what ever happened to just plugging in a grow light and moving it up as the plant grows? i'm going to try and get some pictures to show you guys what my setup looks like

so you don't have a light? I would suggest a t5ho fluorescent, check out victor vicious's grow. Just screw in some hooks and hang it from wire, chain, light mover, whatever you have. Just plug it in and grow. Read some of the grow journals on here there is alot of info to be had for all different setups. Dimensions and pics would help too.

ok here's the picture of my grow space area.. as you can see its pretty well constructed its in a dim room and the windows can easily be blacked out without much effort.

as for the sectioning inside, it pretty much separates each part of the closet with no gaps. thing was expensive when i bought it, and now it just collects dust and holds clothes i don't wear and misc storage

Oh so it's cabinet, I was thinking of a closet. I would remove the dividers exept the horizontal one. Veg up top and flower down below. You can get a nice little perpetual harvest going. What are the dimensions?

its about 5 1/2 feet tall and 4 feet wide give or take i'm pretty close so i just take out the all the dividers and leave the horizontal one in? install two lights? one up top one on bottom? only thing is venting.. this thing has no holes =/

I would try to find a another spot to keep a mother plant then keep your clones up top and put them down below to flower. unless you just wanna grow from seed everytime in which case i would remove all shelves and hang your light by hooks up top

it can't really be that simple can it? i mean what about venting and ballast and all that other good shit i've read countless information on? i can understand the general issue with light and PH and watering and fertilization but just hang a light and let it go? i mean really?

lol

and yes i pretty much will probably grow from seed all the time, i don't sell and don't' smoke a ton this will be for close friends and myself but it'll be the good stuff ;) none of that low quality merc/brick stuff in fact an ounce will last me 5 months

yeah you're gonna have to vent it I would just get your lights setup and go from there. Get the t5 no worry about balasts just hang it and plug it it. two 4" inline fans should do the trick depending on how you decide to set it up.

i've read just opening the door a few times a day can help with the venting.. the question is how i would get the fans in there.. like i said i'm no wood worker so i wouldn't have the slightest clue on how to install anything i guess what i could do is cut out plug holes in the back of the grow area.. which is pressed up against the wall run a cord to the plug and plug it in.. which basically gives me fans and light without anybody noticing anything

I didn't see that you said you'll grow from seeds everytime. In that case justn use one inline fan to exhaust and you can use another for intake or just drill a hole larger than your exhaust hole. intake at the bottom exhaust at the top. remove all shelves and hang a t5 from the top 1/2 red 1/2 blue spectrum the 8 bulbers are the shit.

any links to that t5 bulb with the 1/2 red and 1/2 blue? excuse my ignorance.

also just to make sure i got this straight remove all shelves put in hooks up top get that t5 light double spectrum light hung with some type of way to move it up and down and then drill a hole up top for exhaust?

and an inline fan just means a generic fan right?

Opening the doors helps but your gonna need some kind of exhaust in there. Just drill a 4" hole with a hole saw and screw in your 4" inline fan. Decide what euipment your going to use thenn modify yur box as needed. once you have the fan light etc it's pretty easy to figure out how to incorperate themin to your box

you think one light and one fan is good enough for the space and amount of plants i'll be growing? probably no more than 3 at a time

Go to HTGsupply.com and check out there t5's look at there inline fans too you'll see what i'm tlking about. You pretty much got but there's a million ways to skin a cat that's just how i'd do it. simple effective. Growning from seed everytime is gonna take alot of patience

yup one t5 one 4-6 inch inline two would be better though. If you decide to use one fan put it near the top and make sure you drill a hole near the bottom for intake 6" should be good. If smell is an issue get a carbon scrubber and hook it up to your exhaust, always pull through a scrubber never push.

simple and effective works for me.. i was looking for the easist method possible as for the time growing and harvesting and such.. that's not really an issue i don't smoke a lot and i have nothing but time.. aside i'm thinkin it won't take more than 3 1/2 months to grow

i totally have an image of how this would look now even with two fans.. thanks for the help! seriously makes actually doing this a lot easier.

basically i'll drill a hole up top install the fan, then drill a hole on the bottom.. should it be on the bottom like drilling towards the carpet or on the side which exits into the room its in? lol

Yeah that's probably about right. 1 1/2 for seedling/veg 2 months flower. get the right strain though an early skunk would work pretty well, most indicas should be ok
