Hash oil experiment, am I just lucky?

So I made my little hash oil extraction device out of PVC pipings - just found out those are not supposed to be used lol.


Well. I put about 3.5g of nug in there, Some Atmosphere(WWxog kush), Critical Mass, Lemon Kush, and Bubba Kush.

Broke up the nugs a bit, since I didn't have a grinder, and shoved them in the pipe which was about a 1/2inch diameter.

I used 4 cans of "Ultra Butane-Fuel" from walmart, 10oz of total butane fluid.

So, the liquid is coming out nice, but I notice one odd thing, it's clear. There's no yellow what so ever.

So I'm like, shit, maybe it isn't working... Take it inside after it sits for about an hour outdoors and I begin to examine it.

There is no yellow residue. I'm thinking, what the fuck.

There was a white residue all over the container, so scrape it with a blade. To my surprise, there is tons of honey oil, and it's white, pure white. Off 3.5g of nug I got bout .5g of this honey oil.

Did a little research and I found out that white honey oil is the purest and most potent you can get. I also emptied out my extraction device and noticed the buds were extrodinarily sticky, and covered with a white film.

So 4 cans of of this ultra butane in PVC pipe and I get the purest "white hash oil" and there is still TONS of sticky residue on the buds? I am going to do another few extractions tomarrow and see if I can get the rest off.

But how is this even possible? High yield, purest hash oil, and there's apperently still tons of oil left on the nugs? This was my first extraction ever. Am I just lucky?

Sounds like you are either talking about ice build up on the bud, your butane has a ton of wax in it, or you're actually dissolving your pvc - although I doubt you're dissolving the pvc. .5 from 3.5 is ~14% which is totally possible but if you pull another .5 I'd wonder what you're really extracting.

He's using the tiny cans. His 4 cans = 1 standard can. Although that does still seem like quite a bit considering I use two (standard) cans per 1.5ish oz.

When you found out that you shouldn't use PVC is when you should have thrown that shit away. If you vape that oil you are taking chances of inhaling tiny plastic particulates so it's not worth it. If you must use it, make edibles out of it.

how small is the tube your packing? I put 7-8 grams in a cut down stainless steel turkey baster that is the length of a bic lighter and it is a little less than 1/2 inch diameter in my opinion. So to properly extract a yield like you got you would need a tube less than half the size of a lighter.

I don't know where you read that white hash oil is the highest quality, but that's bull shit. Blonde hash can be dry sifted or water extracted and can be highest quality of hashish, but if your oil is white that is another reason to throw it away. The only other reason oil can be white is if it is underpurged and full of butane, in which case it will budder and have a whiteish look to it. Which could be the case because you used a shit load of butane. A 10oz can is enough to run a whole oz. When I run my 7-8g I use a quarter of a can or less. And whatever Chinese import butane you used is most likely full of contaminants. The only butane you should use is vector or colibri.

Your butane ran clear because your nugs are not packed densely enough and you are not extracting anything. Not to mention with 3.5 you can only expect a quick second or two of color.

Just because your buds are still sticky doesn't mean there is anything left in them. Butane extracts thc, not the oils which gives cannabis it's stickiness. And once again whatever this white film is, it is not good. I've never seen or noticed white film on my buds or my oil after a run. Nor have I heard of it from anyone else other than you. So it's most likely from your pvc or your butane.

It's possible because youre a dumb ass and have no idea what you are doing.

Okay, let me just throw a few things out there.

I smoked this nug of hash oil last night and I got so high that I blacked out.

There IS still THC on the nugs, and I know the stickiness isn't PVC or wax because it reaks of strong cannabis odor. If you've ever vaped, you would know that once you get rid of all the THC and other cannabinoids, the herb becomes odorless.


Before I smoked it, when I tried to handle it, it got all over my hands. Before I even smoked it I could feel a body high coming on just from the sheer THC being absorbed on my skin. This is not uncommon. I could not get the oil off my hands no matter what since I had no alcohol or butane left and it was 3am.

The ball of hash oil I got had the cleanest taste I've ever tasted and absolutely stunk of concentrated THC.

I am in the process of planning a butane recycling cooling system for my upcoming harvest. Basically so I can get some purified butane and reuse it on about 20 plants, buds and all, and just stockpile hash oil. This way I don't have to bother trimming or drying my plants and I can just put them straight into the extraction machine.

You're supposed to use 5 times filtered butane for BHO.....you're using poison that you can't get back out. Buy Vector next time....it's not even close to the same thing, and flat out the wrong stuff. Also, any shop that sells glass will have glass tubes meant for this process, and you get no exposure to pvc or anything, it's the way to go. The tube is $15/us, and can's of Vector are about $5/us.

Be careful doing this bro.....if you don't know what you're doing you can get really hurt or burn down a building.

DONT USE RONSON BUTANE, use that triple or quad filtered stuff.. its expensive.. but i'm sure your hash is really just "trash"..

wow....u used pvc and now your smoking the plastic particals that claim to make u blackout....dude i wouldseriously trash it all then restart n do it right ...better to be safe then sorry !!!!! i use all glass anytime i extract "." i would also recommend never buy cheap butane cans at walmart....the online world provides various amounts of good/great butane cans that are only a few dollars more and work 10x better. make sure u study this stuff before u attemp again..could end up in a bad situation

That "high" and "blackout" you had wasn't because you were hitting "hash oil". What happened is that you took such a large hit of straight butane that you smashed, or blacked out. When making butane hash you will never get a white substance. The white hash oil you see is usually made from iso extraction or by CO2 extraction, which are by far much safer and healthier than butane as well as you normally get a better product. Hash from butane should be a golden color when stretched out and a dark amber color when clumped up. If you kept hitting this "white hash oil" that you believe you have made you should go to the doctor and ask him what the damage is that you have just caused your lungs by hitting straight butane. Learn your shit before you think your the shit.

Dear Guy Who Doesn't Know A Lot,

Few things I will point out.



1. I have smoked the best BHO money can buy. My buddy went to L.A. and brought back BHO that was tested at 89%. Highest ever recorded. I did not black out. So, I'm calling bullshit. Well I'm not, but you didn't black out from anything weed related. It was left over contaminates from the PVC and the Chinese butane you used.

2. You clearly don't know anything about making oil, since you had to look up what to use, it told you DO NOT USE PVC, and you used it anyway. That shit is full of chemicals and particles that are leached from the PVC by the butane. Enjoy.

3. Having smoked the best oil there has ever been so far, which wasn't clear, I can tell you that your oil is tainted. No oil I have ever seen is clear. Ever. I've smoked all kinds of oils and hashes. Ever seen clear hash or clear trichs in the bottom of a grinder? Didn't think so. Use your brain.

4. I didn't know the THC smelled. Hm. Never heard that. The reason why weed smells, are things called tannins. At least science says so anyway.

5. Continue making oil your way, I could give a shit, and when you don't wake up from the blackouts or you explode or you get a lot of people sick, you might shut up and listen to some people who have been doing this since before it was cool, for years, who grow killer bud and make dank oil.
