I was reading a thread a couple of weeks ago saying that after u harvest u can regrow the main stem and it well start to veg again does any1 no of any truth to this?

Yup but It all depends on how massacred the plant was, if there Is leaves left it can regrow, the plant will be a lot weaker overall, has a good chance to hermaph, not worth it in any situation imo, your great strain will be a shit strain afterwards.

i totally disagree.. it does take some time for them to reveg, and not all plants will want to reveg, but to say that the strain will then be a shit strain after a reveg is not true imo..
you're not changing the genetics of the plant be revegging it, so it should still be just as potent and smell just the same and hold all of the same characteristics that it did before the reveg..

Tried it with 8 strains, 7 hermaphed a week after harvest, the last had terrible quality and its not due to my growing style. Harvesting stresses the plant so bad of course its gonna be a lot weaker.

I've been re-growing for years. Just leave enough greenery around the base of the plant to fill a double-handful.
Cut the main stem so it is 50% of harvest height. After harvest throw her into veg for 4 weeks and re-flower
like normal. Re-grows usually yield more than their original harvest as every bud removed re-grows 2 bud sites.

Obviously bigger plant is a bigger yield, but what you have said is valid and as long as it wasnt butchered to bad it shouldnt be affected greatly but most people harvest all at once and then expect to regrow thus why I said to not do it, also bigger plants overall are easier to pull this off with, my neighbor had a wall of green on his chainlink fence and theyd harvest partial and continue to let it grow, bud wasnt the best but it was a wall that just kept giving.

Always wanted to try it but like Silicity said, I hear they herm a LOT. That much stress can cause a plant to herm despite whatever its genetics are.

It works... I do it aftr evry harvest...just put it in 20 hour light and watch it reveg in approx 60-90 days...if it dont reveg, i lost nothing, if it does reveg now u have a plant that has estab roots and it will finish approx 2 weeks than it did the first time.

IMO, if you have a very special plant that you didnt clone and you realized you don't want to lose, re-veg is a good way to go.
Otherwise, might as well just pop a new seed or new clone.

I agree that most characteristics will be maintained, except, your plant might possibly be more prone to some things... IME, powdery mildew. Reveg on 2 strains has made clones from the mother show powdery mildew in flower when I had never seen PM on the clones from the mother pre-reveg. Jmo, and could have just been with my genetics, not others. Genetics were SPG leaning S Tooth and Joey Weed Apollo 11 (which is already known for PM).

Potency and smell was unchanged,,, growth characteristics like branching however were changed. Jme.

We might be talking about two different things... I'm speaking on revegging a plant to become a mother then give clones... sounds like previous posters and OP are referring to regrowing a single plant, to be flowered again. not exactly apples to apples.

If you end up with a great yielding pheno, but didn't clone it at the onset, you can reclaim the genetics by revegging. I've done it a few times now, with good results.
WARNING: If you DO reveg get ready to see some freaky deaky shit!!! What re-vegging involves is basically taking an adult and biologically forcing him back through puberty into childhood. The hormonal ravages are astounding. But once you finally see normal growth, you can start cloning the plant.

And these were taken AFTER I started seeing somewhat normal growth. It took a couple of months to finally stabilize out!!

When you decide to reveg, just cut everything way back, be sure there is some greenery still there, and place it under a weak floro fixture. Water just enough to keep it moist and do not feed until mew growth starts. Then sit back and watch the show!!!
