I guess they didnt have a drone handy.

What do you guys think about the fact that the cops purposely set the cabin on fire?

Wait until the cabin owners find out that "police actions" are not covered in their insurance!
I had a neighbor that found this out many years ago, similar situation. Police chasing a bank robber, crashed into thier house, "police actions, not covered". Most insurance policy's have this exclusion, check yours, you'll see it!
Cabin owners will have to sue Dorners estate, good luck with that!

The cops put up a million bucks for a reward, maybe the home owner can tap into that and get a new cabin......

whats the story behind the story, thats what keeps bringin me back, its almost sounding like the bourne identity but is he good or bad, he was originally fired for sayin the cops used racial slurs all the time, i assume thats true but maybe i have little faith in police motives and character, or intelligence for that, and i dont have the whole story i am speculating because of the action storiness of it

The price of the cabin is pocket change to 200 cops in a week long siege.

What if Dorner had a hostage with him and the single gunshot they heard was him killing his hostage, not himself, then he escaped out the back leading the police to believe he killed himself knowing they would just let the building burn down before entering and thus giving him plenty of time to get the fuck outta dodge before the coroner finds out that OOOHH SSHHIIITTT!! This isnt Dorner!!! I mean dude should pretty much know every step and procedure that the police were going to do, keeping him one step ahead!! Just my theory!!

I will repeat, I wouldn't put this sort of thing beyond LAPD but I doubt that SBPD would collude with them in such an effort. I figure Dorner is dead.

You didn't expect him to survive this, did you? He didn't expect to survive. Same tactic as Waco, grenades instead of tanks.

Yeah, I just watched a 2 hr show on Discovery about Waco. And when they cornered Dorner, I told my wife, if he has no hostages they are well within the law to burn the house to the ground. Both sides know what happens with CS canisters are fired into dwellings.

Those cowboys a WACO, after the ATF, were FBI. The hostage negotiators were screwed by the schism above them, Janet Reno, et al.

The Negotiators were telling them that tanks would make it worse, and no one would come out. True. The Negotiators were telling them to use only piped in gas or the shotgun rounds. CS canisters would torch the place. True. To this day, no one will admit to the decision making.

After listening to the tape - I am quite certain that the building was purposefully "oops . . didn't think THAT was going to happen", torched.

This is far from the first time anything like that has happened, wasn't there some cornering of the Weather underground or the Panthers or someone where flash bang grenades set a whole block on fire?

The cabin owners still don't know they are on the hook for the cabin. I read a story about them, quoting that they didn't know how to file a fire claim with their insurance. They are in for a rude awakening, I'd bet they haven't looked at their policy's "fine print". Damage by police chasing a felon is not covered, by the insurance or the police dept!....They will have to sue Dorner's estate.
