i live in the great midwest. its very sad, if you look closley you can watch the town slowly get grosser. a majority of peoples attitudes and mindsets are usually negative and depressing. ive also been itching to uplift and try a new place.

in april im visiting denver for the cannabis cup, during my visit im going to take a tour of the state and get a feel for daily life. if i enjoy the vibe, i will return in november, and try a new start.

the reason i choose colorado is the shared views of cannabis we have. my current location will lock me up for a pc grow....... also the ability to grow stress free will be my initial lifeline until i can plant 'my roots" and become established.

please dont mistake me for one the assholes capitalize on the state as that is not the case. im 24, and been employeed consecutively for the last 13 years . my last 8 years of experiance are in the catering service. 4 of which till current, i hold the position of executive chef/ director of food sales. i plan on paying $400 for one of the fancy resume builders and spamming all the local banquet and large scale food service companies.

i plan on coming down with 4 months of bills covered and 300 a week for food and fun. i will also have everything needed to have a grow room made by the end of the first day. including seed, soil, nutrients, everything. my idea is if i cant find work the autoflower perpetual grow room, will keep me scraping by until work is attained. some basic research near the casinos, show a non management buffet chef median salary is 50k/benefeits- perfect.

so i have a few questions for anybody that lives in colorado

whats the average mindset like in your town?

is anybody familiar with the food/hospitality business, if so how availible are the jobs? is there tons of restaurants due to tourists?

from first hand experiance, how legal is weed in person ( not on paper) do i have to worry about possession for a simple oz or two?

as far as grows that get busted, how big is to big in the area or are they generally leniant as long as its not a whole basement or something?

good luck man. I'm not from Co and have never been, but i love the idea of states with the ability to customize themselves from their populations that way a single country can provide comfortable homes for a very wide variety of people. I don't think I am interested in Co or Wa but if a warm coastal state follows suit i may consider a move also.

i completely agree with your statement. my current location causes way to much stress related to marijuana. you can go to prison for a pc grow. get locked up for a few grams. and get a dui for smoking a joint 3 hours prior to driving ( personally received this ticket). colorado seems to be my golden ticket. mutual mindsets ( my assumption),liveable wages/ legal grows to keep up with costs of daily inflation. im also working on having kids, and this current location im in is definately not the ideal place to raise one.

Yes 1/2 the state is very nice the other half is very nice if you like flat farm fields as far as the eye can see.

With the new laws its just an added bonus, not the intensive to move. Once big thing I've been finding hard is affordable housing. Up until recently I've worked full time my whole life, and growing is just a hobby but we would like to live someplace that shares our mindsets more then where we are at. I also don't want my daughter to go to school around here either, I would like her to get a good education.

I'm not gonna have tons of time when I'm in town for the Cup in April, but I want to get some real estate listings, newspapers, and any job info I can while I'm there. We would like to move some time this summer.

CO is a expensive place to live, the good news for you is the service industry makes up the majority of CO's industries. So you should have no issues finding good work easily especially with your experience and title.

I live a bit northwest from there but the majority of my friends in life have ended up in CO or AZ, and those in CO of whom some are in your industry and most the others are in specialized construction and one in tech sector, have all had steady good paying work, it's the reason most moved there.
In CO possession isn't a punishable offense by jail, fine or seizure until you go over 1 oz. Over 1 oz is a petty, up to 15 days jail and $100 fine. Once you get over 2 ozs the laws can get scary and sales of any amount are all felonies. Cultivation 6 or less, what that exactly means I don't know so check local laws.

Absolutely, gotta find a job first, my step brother lived in Colorado Springs. They said it was nice there. I've been through the state a few times and that seemed like a cool place on the edge of the mountains.

I've had the opportunity to transfer there with my company, that would be more complicated now but once I'm back to work still and option. I would love to get a job in the new industry as it is forming now though.

Hi all, I lived in Colorado for 30 years. I lived on the western slope meaning up in the mountains. I lived near Aspen which I am sure you know is a big ski resort. The jobs there tend to be seasonal leaning towards skiing primarily. The cost of living as you can imagine is higher and thankfully so is the pay. There are a lot of restaurants there. The people are generally laid back and easy to get along with. As with any town you always have your assholes. I found the eastern slope (Denver area) too fast paced for me. If that is what you like then Denver, Colorado Springs, and the rest of the eastern slope would suit you. Want a more laid back area go into the mountains. It does take getting used to altitude and all. I unfortunately had to move for family sake and I am now living in the midwest where growing is frowned upon. I see the towns all going down hill. It is visibly distressed and the people seem to be either depressed or angry. Jobs are few and businesses are closing it seems on a daily basis. I too am looking into moving back to Colorado. I won't move to get into the growing business, just keep that part for self use. Anyway I hope this little bit of info helps and good luck with your potential move.

It seems I may have left the wrong impression about myself. I love where I live now. I am around my family and that is what matters most to me. I just find it sad that people in this area seem to be angry and depressed. I know a lot of companies have pulled out of this area and that gives people reason to be the way they are. I am sure it is not isolated in this area. I live in IN and I love it here. I also love CO but for different reasons. I would love to live in CO again especially in the mountains. I find the drier climate and cleaner mountain air to be healthier for me.

Not to be rude here but you can't assume whether or not I am happy based on what I posted about the area I now live in. I never said the my area is the only area affected. My post was simply to give what little insight I have about CO and compare it to where I live. So if the shoe fits where it but please no more assuming as we all know what that gets us.
