Molasses Flush

Starting Monday im going to be doing the final flush before harvest and I wanted to know if it's okay to use molasses and water to flush the plants instead of going out and buying something specifically made for a flush, input is appreciated!

Molasses is used for added thrich production during the 4th to 8th week not for flushing This late in your stage your just wasting the molasses, I don't flush with anything other than straight water. I have had tests done with a flushing product and just water. With a full week of flushing straight water does an execellent job.

Good Luck

I will stick with just water then which I intended to do but wasn't 100% if it would be enough

Molasses this late won't benefit anything at all. I use it the last four weeks of flower to help add microbial activity to the soil which increases yield. As far as flushing, if you grew organic, plain water is best. If you used chemical ferts and have alot of salt buildup you may need a commercial flush or access to a utility sink to flood the media. It really depends on how good you want your smoke to taste and burn. Good luck!

Dude, STFU, you have no clue what your talking about. Here again is a joint of unflushed bud
Fed until the day I pulled it. It was dried and cured properly, no black ash and tasted great. So what now?
That's weird... I agree with him, when you don't flush you get black ash and the weed tastes like shit. What kinda nutes were you feeding?

To the OP: flush with straight water. The only time i've heard of people using molasses in the final flush is to effect the taste of the weed.

when you don't dry and cure properly and smoke shitty weed, you might get black ash, it doesn't matter the nutes you use, it's how you use them. This "don't flush get black ash RUMOR" is just that, a RUMOR. ALSO, using molasses for taste is another RUMOR, if you have an organic soilweb going, Molasses will feed carbs and sugar to those microbes which break down nutrients into usable forms for the plant to feed on.
Please don't spout stupid forum fodder.

Haha, flushing or not is personal preference.... why people get their panties in a knot about this is beyond me.

If anyone has any doubt if flushing is the way to go, experiment with two seperate plants urself. But im sure the debate will always continue :P

Hmmmm "stupid forum fodder"? Have you ever tested it out for yourself? Or are you just assuming that your right? I actually have used molasses before to test out the effects as well as pure orange and pure vanilla extracts. 5 hours before harvesting I watered 3 of my plants with water mixed with each of the flavors and after harvesting, drying, and curing the weed properly, the bud from two of the plants smelled EXACTLY like molasses cookies and vanilla. The orange flavor didn't work as well for me for some reason. So please don't call things rumors unless you try it out for yourself. As far as flushing goes, I personally definitely prefer weed that's been flushed thoroughly. When using a vape you can taste the difference for sure no matter how well you cure.

I have flushed and not flushed and it makes no difference. If you dry and cure well and properly they will taste the exact same. Flushing could diminish your yield a little bit but not much. Molasses for flushing doesn't do anything, however if you use molasses at the 4th week to 8th week then it will help with yield and boost but flavor doesn't make a difference. I have had unflushed and didn't use molasses end up the best tasting buds myself. Black ash or awful taste even at proper dry and cure could be from too much nitrogen or nutes at harvesting but that is rare though.

Flushing IMO is something people do that pump vast amounts of nutes into a plant.

If you only give what's needed to keep them healthy and performing then flushing really isn't necessary.

I have done side by side comparisons. In my comparison I lost 6% yield by flushing, but the flushed bud was alot smoother straight after drying before curing. After the cure the only difference was that 6% loss.

But like I said its just my opinion through trying it myself.

Um, YEah, I use molasses, and i understand common sense and common plant botany. So, you believing you tasted molasses is just you talking out of your ass.

Why don't you take a big gulp of molasses and tell me if that is the same thing you thought you smoked. LMFAO

  • Molasses feeds beneficial microbes in soils and potting mixes. The boosts of energy that they receive help them to convert nutrients such as nitrogen to a more efficient form unlocking the full potential of your fertilizers.
  • Plant roots can absorb some of the carbohydrates into their tissues thus carrying other essential minerals into the plant.
  • Molasses can increase the levels of potassium to the plants which promotes fruiting and flowering.
  • Our unsulfured molasses can also feed endo and ecto-mycorrhizae which increase availability of all plant nutrients for uptake.

Try it out for yourself, you may be surprised! Add molasses right before harvesting, and after curing you will open the jar and be greeted with a noticeable molasses smell.

There are tons of threads on here that talk about how molasses effected taste, here is just one for example.
