Lol, I gotta do mime still. I'm filing separate from the wife this year. I will pay over $5k in taxes, then somehow owe because she paid under $500.

Well didn't you contribute to society like a good little leftie?

(Sarcasm)
Every time one buys any taxed item, buys gasoline, pays for a license - yes all contribute. (Truth) And no SS or Medicare contributions are refunded please note.

They earned $17,612 between them, unless I'm really high and can't count.

I'm sure they contributed far more than they cost ;)

you described state tax and DOT funding the poor do not contribute to income tax. The top 25 percent you hate so much are the ones paying the way and giving you extra money on your return.

Lol, I'm just trying to start some shit. I'm pretty sure Obama didn't write the tax code. I see alot of people blame him for everything in their lives so I figured I'd blame him for this.

That;s a crock of shit... Middle class is hit harder than anyone.. The 25% you speak of use so many loopholes, and other stuff designed for the rich they don't pay shit compared to what they make.

They also use the government to help them steal the wealth they have gained. While they complain that government sucks.
Well of course they do, they're paying for it. Do you think our politicians want a system absent of lobbies? The rich and our leaders are quite happy that the majority of Americans are idiots and can't think for them self. Have you ever questioned why the system has never changed regardless if the rhetoric?

Oh really I guess the IRS enjoys lying to us on who pays. That sounds logical

collected taxes go to the fed to pay on interest on the debt. taxes do not provide anything for you, the government does that by borrowing more and more money, it is a massive shell game, we cant win. we arent intended to win, it will collapse, when? is anybodys guess.

I don't get how people can get a refund for more then they put in. This should be the first thing to stop. If you owed more then you put in you get back up to what you put in that should be it. Seems fair?

Wasn't really meant for something as small as yours but still any over is over. I know someone who pays in about $3k and gets back over $10k and all kinds of monthly assistance. That just doesn't seem right o me.

It's due to all of the assistance programs. For instance, assistance for "dependents" is filed for and acquired from tax returns.

I have some friends who get back much more than they put in because they make < 25k/year, plus they are a single parent, plus their children are young
Just for being able to claim "dependents" as a single parent almost guarantees a check unless you are making very good money.

they just had a child. government tends to subsidize that kind of thing.

Why? I really never understood the child tax credit system. Hell I don't understand the tax codes at all for that matter. My taxes go to the accountant, a check goes to her, then another to the IRS.
