Why not open up shop at Eastern Market? Make sure vendors choose a spot with the bulletproof doors and the bulletproof glass panels to see who's knocking? No legit card, speak a foreign language until the cops leave.

A few of the Eastern Market doors were set up like that as of a year-ish/2 yrs ago.. slide open, with bulletproof glass protecting it - am not sure, but if so.. get a growers co-op together, have hydroponic herbs and small veggies out front, and things in the back for those who want to sample the mango diesel orange guava pine herbs... I don't see an issue with this.

We need to come out together brother and stand up against our oppressors, not hide and cower from these political clowns and the games they play. Either you believe that medical marijuana does exists or it does not. Either you are a member of the MJ community or you are not. NEWS ALERT: No where in the United States of America is the use, possession or cultivation of marijuana free from prosecution period. It's all just a game literally bro. Are you playing or are you not? Are you ashamed of your use, possession and/or cultivation of marijuana? Are you a "public nuisance" and not a productive member of your community? That is the goal of our opposition my friend, it's all about the story line and we are the bad guys :(
The only problem with this is that in Michigan we have a medical marijuana law. There are rules to the program and it is not legalization. If the eventual goal is legalization, my personal belief is that the key to that goal is showing we can follow the rules with this first. I don't think that suggesting we follow the rules of the program we have in place excludes me or anyone else from the community.

Activisim at this point of the 'game' involves test cases with clear medical use and top of the line lawyers clearly defining the law and countering the tricks of the prosecution, lobbying the legislature to make the law as clear as possible without further restriction (the recent effort with 4851 clearly defining the legality of outdoor grows is an example- it stopped county by county interpretation and will keep people from getting arrested for something that is 'legal' in the next county), and a good PR campaign to show we ARE following the rules and living up to the expectations of the voters.

This is not bowing down to every wild theory put forth by Schuette (remember the separate room for each patient he tried to propose, or his 'clearing the air' seminars?), it doesn't mean we shouldn't be pushing the limits of the law based on a SOLID argument (clear test cases). It does mean we shouldn't do things that are CLEARLY outside the limits of the Act designed to prompt a response we would clearly lose. The recent 'joints for donated food' marketing by a dispensary is an example of the latter, despite good intentions.

WTF does any of that have to do with going beyond what the law states and selling at a farmers market to people outside of your 5 patients?

I'm not cowering from anything, I have a family that depends on me working, paying bills and putting food on the table.. I'm not one of the majority of MI who sits around all day collecting $80,000 a year of welfare and unemployment. I have a job to keep and going to jail and having my name raked through the coals by the legal system would surely be the end of that.

You go ahead and push the boundaries, or clearly violate them like a lot of people are doing, more power to you. I have no problem following the guidelines of the law as it is and I do plenty to take part in activism and moving towards a better future, I don't have to break the current law to do it and I wouldn't suggest anyone else do it either unless they have nothing better to do with their time and money.

You guys selling at farmers markets are going to get arrested and you better have a good attorney and even then I don't think you're going to have a leg to stand on. They're going to be coming for the markets next, watch.

I may be misunderstood here. I am not suggesting breaking any laws or rules. I just want more good MJ people to stand up proudly and be counted as respectable and productive members of their community whom are also MJ patients and/or caregivers. I believe this is the only way to overcome this "public nuisance" we have now been branded with.

i feel by following the law and not getting arrested and not being a public nuisance will help the cause to fix the laws so maybe we will be able to have farmers market

I'm not sure how we are supposed to follow these laws and rules..If I tried to train a dog this way it would be crazier than I already am... So if I was a guy who paid his light bill with money from a disp.. Then I guess it is time for my poor sick patients to suck it up???

laws and lawyers are not gonna be how we get these asshats OUT of MY GARDEN...the people around me know when I am a nuisance

Hey Stump..... The majority of Mi sitting and collecting welfare and unemployment??? Really ??? 80,000 dollars ? Really??? Wow I think you could have and should have left that part out bro..... But as always we are still good Stump.

Edited to add..... Not the economy here isnt that bed. I just think it was in bad taste to suggest that a majority of MI are just sitting on their ass collecting anything.

Calling me a liar? ;)
Actually I feel it is important that these municipalities have not served C&D orders to the farmers market business models. I wonder if there something about the farmers markets that they believe will not meet the "public nuisance" game?

Maybe it had to do with one of the dispensaries going all over the papers offering free marijuana for food? Or the fact that is where Joe Cain is very active?

The C&D orders did not close the businesses. It has ordered them not to dispense. If the business can survive on other models, it may remain open. These orders do not effectively shut down the business on a public nuisance basis. It is ordering businesses to follow the law, presuming they have not, or would not without...
