Anyway guys, it’s week 3 and the babies have been upgraded to young ladies in their nice new final pots.

The soil mix was as described on the previous page.

Mixed and watered thoroughly, left it overnight then potted.

It's a day later and they seem very happy.

Looking good dude, this is the time they explode in growth!
I’m almost exploding in my pants thinking about witnessing them exploding in growth.

I would imagine it’s something that’s awesome to see.

You can rest assured it will be documented here

Man don’t know if it’s because of the green foliage and the red pots but when I open the tent it looks so pretty in there.

I’ve tried to create the best habitat in there for them that I can.

And stay tuned for some nice modification touches coming in the next few days, which should make their habitat even more comfortable for them.

Thanks man, IDW just keeps on getting more attractive with time.

The Two Hazes are beginning to kick in a new gear, they were slow starters, but they really seem to be coming up on the heels of the OG Kush’s.

Like I said before one of the Kush’s seems a little stunted in comparison to the other but, she’s sticking in there.

Yeah, I’m very happy with the repot.

During week four I will be topping IDW and fim’ing all the rest.

I am also intending to take clones from all of them except the stunted OG Kush.

You could always take clones from the stunted ones lowest branches just incase some die. Back up lol
I'm taking two cuttings from each plant, 3 from IDW, because I'll be taking 4in of the top stem, which it has been said slows upward growth and promotes bushy growth, width.

This would also allow the 4 tops below the main top equal access to the light. So if all goes according to plan, looks like I could get four tops from IDW.

I think I saw a cloning tutorial which said that a clone only has the potential of the plant it was cloned from.

So, I’m staying away from shorty.

Yeah, this is all new to me but I would imagine it’s a bit like germinating; there is no doubt a mortality rate.

I hope the mortality rate is low for me, lol.

Thats why im sayin take as many clones as possible, even if they are from shorty, its your first time, what if they all die cept one of shorties. Best case senario is that you end up planting shorties clones in the woods somewhere :):):)

I hear what your saying bud. But if it's a choice between clones from shorty and some new seeds it would be better for my garden genetically to get some new seeds.

If you see what I mean.

You want to breed from the best, let the poorer specimens go, is the philosophy I'm having for my garden.:-o

Went to a Market that has a really good hardware stall.

I went to buy some chain to hang my 400watt HPS Duel Spectrum to try it out for the first time.

Got there the Market was of, Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam.

Went across the road to another place, I could see they had some chain. The one guy was bringing the chain for me to have a look, the other guy sits looking quite. I ask the one guy as he's brining some chain over to me, the quite dude pipes up and tells me a figure that I'm sure was at least double what I paid at the other place.

I just said, nah too expensive for me, thanks all the same and stepped.

I'm pretty sure the one guy just hiked the price thinking I would pay whatever.

Shame for him, it didn't work out.

I ended up buying some ribbon as a temporary measure, I wanted to test the HPS that bad :wall:

theres always god ole chicken wire, its soo ghetto but when you find some cheap chain at the store or find some on an old light fixture or somthing, you can always replace it. Get that hps rockin bro...big buds :):):):)

I got the cheap ones from amazon and they....well IDK. Instead of using a crimping tool to fasten the rope to the carabiener they were just tied on with like four knots. I bitched and they just refunded my money. I still have them and they work but they just dont seem as nice as my sun grips. My real sun grips..i think the ones on amazon claimed to be name brand and they werent, they were no name. Oh the cord is starting to fray on em too. :):):)

I'm all about getting the job done as cost effectively as possible, so low tech has its place at times no doubt, necessity is the mother of invention.

I'll go back to the proper stall on a day I know it's open in the next few days.

I like big buds and I cannot lie :eyesmoke:

And fuck selffish ppl

So I hooked up the HPS with ribbon, And did a test run, did a light cycle with the HPS.

I wanted to make my observations on the HPS.

Things I noted, the HPS draws more electric but not that much more than the 4Tube T5. I thought there would be more of a saving with the T5.

But on the flip side of that, I was kinda cool with it because it meant that I wouldn't have to worry about the cost of using it, in flowering.

I also observed that the HPS seemed to cast more shadows, it has to be kept higher up to avoid plant burn. I thought it would have better penetration but to the naked eye, the T5 seems to have deeper penetration and there seems to be more light with all those tubes closely packed together, I think it hits spots the HPS misses.

HPS has it's place and applications no doubt, but this T5 system is for real, I see it.

I intend to use the HPS at times during flowering. If each system has its advantages and disadvantages, I'm thinking if I use both it will be like using two coats of paint instead of one.

Two coats should get it covered.

My plan is to use the lights on alternate weeks in the first month and then may switch in month two of flowering to primarily the HPS.

Maybe HPS during the weekdays, then the T5 on the weekends, 5 days HPS and 2 days Fluorescent.

I will also need to have my ventilation/exhaust system up and running before using the HPS properly, due to the heat they create.

Week 5 will be the start of flowering.

Anyway pics of the HPS in action, it turned the inside of the tent a lovely shade of Reddy orange.

It looked like a boudoir, kinda like the duel spectrum light was seducing the plants to grow and open their buds.

Here are the pics.

For this test run I used the fan from the Carbon Filter exhaust kit, as an intake fan to bring cool air into the tent.

You can see the ducting I attached to the fan on the left side of the in tent pics.

From the experiment I know that I will need an intake and an out-take fan when I'm running my 400w HPS.

The fan I was using as an intake is a 5 inch and moves up to 280m3, much more than I should need, but nice to have. It is from the exhaust kit (I'll take some pics of the kit soon) and will be used as an exhaust with the Carbon Filter.

I will buy a 4 inch intake around 187-200m3, (the intake must be lower capacity than the out-take) within the next week in preparation for the higher temps flowering will bring.

This was a one day dummy run during week three and I then reverted back to my T5 set up, after the assessments and observations had been made.

On the road 2 success are ya?! Nice upgrades.
One suggestion for you bro, start training your girls ASAP.
Supercrop some and LST some and give another some extra veg to fill things out.
I can't tell how much space your working with, but if you don't train the girls, they can get TALL!
Rendering you HPS useless in a tent bro :joint:

Maybe top some back after the 2nd or 3rd node. Take a look at the Critical Jack I most recently posted on my thread and you can see what happens.
But if you train the girls and keep them stout, you can keep the lights closer and the lack of penetration becomes less of an issue

I sure hope I'm on the road to success, did a lot of reading before I started this and watched a lot of tutorials once I had committed to it and yet still, I'm learning stuff everyday.

A lot of things like LST and Super crop I'm going to have to investigate and study deeply, before I attempt them.

I will be topping IDW and fim'ing all the others when I start the cloning program.

The ladies excluding IDW are on average six inches right now they will be around 7-9 inches by flowering time if they are even 9 inches and trebled in size it wouldn't be a problem in this tent. I've checked out the max height of each strain and so far I'm at the mid rage with all of them so if I reached optimum range with them I'll be happy because they are all bushy types rather than tall plants (apart from IDW).

With IDW I will top her at the main stem to slow growth.

I will document the process and post pics here.

I will have a look at those techniques you mentioned, cheers ;-)

And low stress training IMO is a MUST with an indoor crop given the space restrictions! And I don't mean that lightly brother :joint:
