Fresh air intake and filtration

for those that use fresh outside air for intake, how do you filter it so that you're not sucking in bugs from the outside? I've got a outside air intake but it is about 1 foot from the ground (basement glass block windows) and am worried about it sucking in spider mites and other bugs. right now using a standard forced air system filter folded into quarters but thinking it's not going to be enough to prevent bugs from crawling in. any ideas?

They got a thing called a "dust 'shroom" I think it's called that is relatively cheap and will catch most stuff.

Otherwise you need a hepa or hega filter to catch everything.
Good source for these types of filters are air cleaners; but you still need to add flanges; etc. to those.

a electro/static or a heppa will both do the trick , but both will seriously slow down your air flow , say you have a 6 inch inlet , build a 24x24 filter box and feed in a 6 inch then a 6x10 reducer then back out a 6 inch .

I don't have a part number off hand, I didn't actually buy it for my garden. I ordered it special through Detroit Speed Shop years ago for a project car and its just been sitting in garage so I decided to use it. Its a cone style filter, the only dimension I know off hand is that it has a 4" inlet to fit directly onto a GT3076R turbo lol. Check out their site, I'm pretty sure there is a page where you can actually plug in your own dimensions and they will show filters that meet your needs.

I was just thinking about square filters. Cone filters make sense to me now. Great thanks.

Here's the link for everyone else.
