I don't think it is bullshit. Especially if it is indoor grown.
I spend a half hour to an hour every day on my plants. Checking them for deficiencies/bugs/keeping them watered and fed, raising the lights.
I vegged this last grow 28 days. They will be in flower about 65 days.
93 days = approximately 46 hours of labor.
If i were to sell 2 ounces at the rate you describe (50 for a 1/4) That would be 400 dollars.
400 divided by 46 hours pays me a $8.69 an hour wage.
But take into account electricity. My grow costs me approximately 15 dollars a month. so take 45 off the 400
355 divided by 46 hours = $7.71 an hour wage.
Seems reasonable to me.

Now if it is outdoors or you are growing big numbers the price can drop and still give you a good hourly wage.

I'm 60 yrs old, have been through literally hundreds and hundreds of grows in more than 40 yr's and to this day have NEVER sold grass in my life.
I've bought a shit load, and was always glad someone grew when I needed it, but when I grow, everyone I know has grass and they never pay a penny come harvest time. That's what it has always been about for me. Making sure I have some, and making sure the residuals fall into the laps of the people I love and care about.
I've never sold a single joint, ever in 60 yrs. That said, I haven't 'paid' a penny for grass in well over 10 years.
I sure do like the new century... grass will soon become almost worthless in a monetary sense as hobbyists and enthusiasts are allowed to fill the void in a more legal manner. Heck, in my state the price of a great OZ is 1/3 of what it was 7 years ago.... and going down down down.. as it should.
