Technically, the Diag is on the U of Mich property, and the U of M police force are state troopers, so they don't play by the same rules as the A2 cops, so it isn't a good idea to light up on the diag during the hash bash, however after the bash, at the Monroe Street Fair it is safe to light up as long as you do it in the street, and not on the north side of the street or anywhere on UM property.lets make mich smell like pot north to south east to west this will be the best pot smoking time in mich..be proud to toke

That was true in years past, but last year there were a lot of people smoking freely on the diag. Don't be so sure - just because you witness one thing doesn't mean it is the norm. Everyone bring a hat, and take it off, then wave it in the air for a couple seconds.Not sure if they still do this but there are undercovers walking around in the crowd who will signal the uniformed officers by simply tak off their hat and just holding it up in the air for a couple seconds.
