all looks wonderfull still to me...
and I dont think that a 600 would have much more improvment, but all the light kits ive seen are about the same price as the 400watts so you may as well go with the 600 unless you can find a 400 for significantly cheaper.
But then again i dont buy pre built ballast either.

The DIY vs prebuilt? Kinda a wash. imoho. I gutted a pair of 150W HS security lights for this grow. The ballasts are sitting on a heat sink from a 200 AMP servo drive.
The premaid adds in the no fussing aspect (UNLESS the cables don't reach, or the like, then you are back to the DIY spot)
As to the 400-600 price of the unit isn't as much a concern over the cost of running it. From what I have read, but haven't looked into to see if its true, you can't toss a 400 watt bulb into a 600 watt ballast safely. (though I guess you could with a 200 watt dummy load, but that wold be zero savings)
The area in question is 2 feet by 6 feet. So its long not square. (one of the reasons I went for 2 150s. Spreads the light.)
Heat might be an issue (another perk to prebuilt) Ducting and the like.

Yea, it's real good. A nice amber beer. It's made by Widmer..they are out in Portland Oregon.

Cool point is that I can't write off part of the trip, since there is work (or kinda) out there at the time.
And Portland is a *cool* town a major favorite of mine.
Gonna hit up Seattle before going to BC. I just love the northwest! The best beer, coffee, & pot. What else could one want?

hmm sounds like a great space for a vertical grow in my opinion but that just may be me....
you can put a 400 watt bulb in a 600watt ballast as well, although I would think that would still leave the ballast to draw the same amount of energy....
Since you dont mind the diy, Id just look around for a 400watt ballast kit. They usually run about $40-$70(tops). Although If you got the 600 watt that would always leave room to make a bigger garden in the future if you were to wanted, but I think the 400 would do great for flowering 3 plants @ a time.

Quick update/pics before I hit da road.
One plant is fairly nute burned. I flushed her this weekend. The fan leave look really shitty. But the buds and top leaves are still hanging in there.
I reprogrammed the PLC, but afraid to leave it with only 1 day of testing. I'll wait till I get back to run the new program. The touchscreen LCD is incorporated into this version too.
Well heres the eye candy. (the seed plant is budding well.)

It looks great man, I hope you cloned that little seed plant because it looks like it would be the best mother(not that the current one isnt a good mom). Its got less stretch per node and more branches that give more bud locations...
I dont blame you for not wanting to run the program while you are away, thats a lot of risk for so long of a grow thats made great progress.

Nothing major.
Got home today (didn't have to do the second half of the job. Customer isn't ready)
I attached a pic I got off my webcam of the bloom room. (no great shakes of a pic, but the cam is kinda cool pan and tilt. And have one in the Veg and Bloom rooms.)
Too late to update pics for real. Came in right before the witching hour.
The big spindly plant is looking nice. Buds getting fatter and the frosties are starting to show.
I did get my areogarden for cloning. I've been pondering one of these for a lloonngg time for legit usage. So 4 or 5 clones in it now and 3 spot for herbs.
I should be able to test the new program this weekend for good (no work next week as of yet)

Which plant should I have cloned? Big Momma Cass (the huge bushy plant) is the one I have taken all my clones from. The tall spindly plant in bloom, is just from seed and no clones taken. I have 3 more clones from Cass in veg, along with Cass and a new seedling that has *tight* nodes so far, like .24 inch or less.
I'm feeling that the slower budding plants in bloom are slower then the seed plant, because the clones were topped and have 4 colas each. (just a thought) But also allows a split harvest.
(thinking of stealing a small inner nug this weekend)

I was thinking along the lines that the shorter more stout plants generally have made the best mothers for me. the things you look for in a mother all are different.
I have found thought the plants with closer node spacing(like that plant in flower from seed I mentioned something about) make solid buds in more of a spear cola shape than the type of plants with many branches budded up where they meet and a little in between(cass looks to be a mix between the both types).
Either one will be a good mom for now as your just getting off the ground.
From now on though if you are going to try and find the "best" mother for production in your garden....Clone each plant that you do from seed and label them with names to match the plant they were taken from. Keep this info and when you flower the plants, keep the clones in veg still labeled as which came from which. The one that you find to be the best plants in flower @ harvest time, keep the clone in b=veg and use it as a mom. You then should be able to flower the rest of the clones for a little smoke until the clone grows into a mom.

I got lucky with the first being a female. my sched kinda screwed up my plans (though turned out to be a good thing) I was gonna take a few cuttings, and flower the momma. If momma was female, I'd have a few cuttings in the wings. But momma got too big. (gonna still flower her after these are done)
Overall it started as a quasi goof project. But since things were going well, thought, what the hell. I have been keeping records of stuff, when I took cuttings, when x-planted, etc. (missed a few) Most plants are numbered/named. (of course one named Mary, and another named Jane. Pat is the new seedling since I don't know the sex yet)
I'm off on a mini-vacation next month to the NW (got a great fare for first class!) Gonna try to wander up to BC and get a few more 'flavors'.
(I'm thinking for a little breeding a pure indica and a pure sativa, and outright good blend for 'now' )
The spindly one was in a thread I started "stretched too far?" I was gonna kill it (or at least not pay much attention to.) looks like I'll get a few nice buds from it. Glad I kept it!

wow, sounds like a nice ass vacation man. Sounds to me like a good strain for you to try out would be God bud. I grew it out one time and unfortunately I didnt know how to make seeds back then so i dont have anymore..... It was cannabis cup winner for worlds best indica @ one point and its made by bc bud depot.
If you would like an indica-sativa cross then I could be able to help you out with some pollen from a medicinal male "raft" plant I have...Its going to be a great father for seeds(just got done making some)flashing my nuts.. Carmelisous is a sativa dominant plant correct? Seeds made between the two would be a 50% indica and 50% sativa if so.

being a tech freak myself, i am interested in the controls you have made to do things remotely.... i have been plotting on how to add some monitoring and adjustment abilities to my setup and was wondering if you would share any of the info/methods you have utilized.... most of it is fairly straight forward stuff to make digital meters report to software... but the controls you have added (cO2) sound really interesting.... are you rolling your own or are you buying off the shelf controllers?
